Title: Possible players sitting out Citrus Bowl; updated!
Post by: carl childers on December 08, 2019, 03:50:05 PM
I hope everyone plays in the game against Michigan - I despise them and want to drill the Wolverines. However, realistically, the possibility of some seniors / High draft juniors sitting exists. Who do you think might sit this one out?

The WR's and possibly Najee with the SR. O-line people. RTR!

CNS will expect anyone who hasn't declared for the draft as of Jan1 to play in the game.  At least I think that's what he said.  CNS thinks bowl games should still be important.

However, some will sit out and depending on how many, Citrus Bowl will be an early start to spring training.

I look forward to seeing who plays in the bowl game. I want to see who loves Bama or just the chance to play for money. RTR!

Look at the bright side instead; Michigan players will sit out.  They invented the process of skipping bowl games.

So let's cheer for those in Crimson.

I said this in a different thread about players sitting. I thing Najee Harris is 50/50 on playing, Ruggs is not 100% and might sit. DE Davis might play since he could have left early last year. DB Diggs & Carter may sit, especially Diggs. Leatherwood and Willis are 50/50. Bet Michigan has more missing than Bama.

Our backups are better than Michigan’s starters. The only question is whether or not the team shows up motivated to play.

I fully expect The Joker and my favorite WR, Jalen Waddle, to both play and show out...  8)

I don't understand that sentence.  Is Herbstreit really leading an Alabama player's only meeting?

I can see how it might seem like we didn't have much defense against Awbren but truth is, we held them to about 70 yards UNDER their season average.  We gave them 354 yards while their average was about 421.

There used to be a thing called Alabama pride. That's part of the price we pay by bringing in national talent, as opposed to primarily recruiting in the state of Alabama. Although in today's day and age, I'm sure that really matters anymore.

Unless he is recovering from some injury, this makes no sense, and he is doing himself a disservice.

I do not like it but he is making a business decision. There is not much to be gained for him personally in a non-major bowl. There is much to be gained (or lost) by him spending a week in Mobile with all NFL teams and head coaches represented.

I was thinking that Lewis does have a history of injury, but you are no doubt right.

I suspect he is skipping the bowl so he can concentrate on training for the Senior Bowl and Pro Day.

Mac Jones has reason to be extra cheerful this holiday season after confirming he will have emerging star running back Najee Harris and his top three wide receivers -- Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs and DeVonta Smith -- all available for the bowl game, along with some of his top offensive linemen.

The kid has had 2 serious injures and given his all for the Tide. That’s enough for me. He owes the fans nothing, it’s his life and he’s looking to the future financially. I can’t blame him for that. He may not be more than a 5th round pick.
