The shooter is dead.  Several injured.  The base is closed at this time.  Still developing.

Foxnews saying that 3 shot dead in addition to the shooter who is dead.  They are saying he was an Saudi aviation student.  He probably flunked out and decided not to go back home as a failure.

This breaks my heart. As most of you know, I play golf a lot at the Navy Base. Lots of good people on that base, military and civilian. Prayers are with them all.

I totally understand since I work on a military base.  We had a lockdown a couple years ago due to what was thought to be a person with a guy in a nearby building.  Fortunately it turned to be nothing but what if?

I remember that. You and HL were a little nervous if I recall.

I hate to see what the aftermath means for N.A.S. Pensacola.  :(

I doubt they will ban golfballing.  They may just make it a bit more difficult to get on base to do golfball.  I'm guessing they will start requiring photo ID in the form of a Common Access Card (Cac) for everyone entering base for a while.  On Redstone, currently ONLY one person in a vehicle has a (Cac) and it doesn't have to be the driver.  For some reason that just doesn't make very much sense from a "security" perspective.

They already do exactly that, NALT. But something of this magnitude, may spur them to get tighter. What I CAN tell you, is no golfer has ever shot up anything except typically bad scores against the course.

I have a 6 month pass that I regularly renew. I just had it renewed a month ago. When I go home for Christmas, it will be interesting to see what happens.

If they ban golf clubs at least no by standers will get clobbered by a wild pitch off the clubs again. RTR!

It was definitely a terrorist attack. A Saudi national who was in the Saudi Air Force, there for training, did the shooting. There were more involved.

This scumbag held a dinner party the night before the shooting where they watched videos of mass shootings. Another Saudi national filmed the shootings, and apparently, there were others in what they think was a getaway car. All those were arrested. There are 6 more unaccounted for.

Kudos to the Escambia County Sheriff's Dept for killing that POS.

It's a grassy freeway that runs past roughs that some golfers prefer to play in.
