The big play in that drive was a 15 yard penalty for a push by #35.  It wasn't a penalty - shouldn't be.  Then on that same play they gave the WR a catch, despite bobbling the ball and standing on the OB.  WTF?

Almost poetic that the regular season ends because of confusion in lining up for a punt return. Special teams strikes again. Bobby Williams lives on in T-town.

You can point to only one person for this consistent problem and that’s Nick Saban. He’s a great coach but he has a blind spot for the kicking game. No one’s perfect and his record speaks for itself with 6 NC’s.

We watched every team run on us this year, even the cupcakes, and how many extra points and field goals did we see bounce off the goal post.  I'm looking forward to getting some players healthy and a good bowl game.  I really don't see how we could have matched up with Ohio State anyway.  That would have been ugly.  We lost too many folks to the NFL and had too many key injuries.

That being said, the team played their hearts out tonight.  We scored 45 points and just came up short.

Yeah, I wondered how competitive Bama could have been without a healthy Tua, and with the same porous defense. 

And not just Ohio State, but Clemson and LSU all look really good. (LSU now up 28-0 on the Aggies in the second quarter).  Whichever team is ranked #1 will have a big advantage, the other 2/3 will face each other in round 1.  Maybe that's why Dabo was so salty about the rankings today.

God almighty surely we ain't going to no bowl are we? We don't have enough defense and kicking game plus we don't own any referees. RTR!

One thing to say if saban can't get any coaches for defense any better then we won't ever win games anymore. RTR!

A few things was very frustrating for me number one, our lack of Defense but understandable with all the injuries we've had number two, if aubrem had a penalty  not called  it wasn't called because they were just letting them play number three, if we created the penalty it was well deserved that we got penalized by Gary

Well I am with your son. I am totally heartbroken. Mrs Dottie sent me home from Rehab today because she said I wasn't any company to her. RTR!

If you are blaming this loss on the kicking game then you are dumber than a sack of hammers.  If not then I apologize. Stupid penalties and a couple bad passes cost us this game and I lean more towards the penalties.  It seemed to me that we gave up 1st downs via penalty when we otherwise had them stopped then they would score.  Have, Have, Have to eliminate those penalties.

Wow, talk about jumping conclusions and not reading a post. The subject is the Alabama kicking game and missed FG’s since Saban has been there. No mention of ANYTHING else. Saban and kicking game, Saban and kicking game, Saban and kicking game. Now repeat that 100 times back to me.

Charlie Strong fired as head coach of USF. He has been a defensive coordinator in the past. Just saying. Little worried he may need a year or two off to reignite his passion for the game. Fired from Texas, too.

I am not sure Charlie Strong could build a defense to stave off the SEC competition. We really need somebody that can develop DB's and make the calls a lot less mind boggling. We have a bunch of dumb thugs that need simple things to call a defense. RTR!

No one is saying kicking cost the game.  But the game did highlight a problem that Bama has had for 13 years.  Think about it. 13 years, 101 missed FGs, more than any other team in the entire FBS. 

Well, I still have the red-azz after last night. It's tough to beat the refs and Auburn's blind luck too, however, we did a great job of beating ourselves.

Outstanding performances by Jalen Waddle and Najee. Kudos to Mac, too. Even with the 2 pick sixes, he never gave up and played well other than that.

Heck, if you think about it, Mac had 6 TD passes. Unfortunately, 2 of them went to Auburn.  :lol2:

Twitter is full of people saying the kicker cost us the game.  I was just making sure MD wasn't one of them...  ;)

Strong was Defensive Coordinator under Urban Meyer at Florida.  He knows how to run a defense in the SEC.

Perhaps he has learned some humility with his unsuccessful experiences as HC and would be willing to try the Nick Saban Coach Rehabilitation and Training Clinic, as an analyst or defensive coach.

But there might be a waiting list....

And that waiting list grows every day this time of year.

I know everybody is out for the DC's head, but I'm not sure how much of it is on him.  Isn't this his first year as DC?  With the revolving door I can't keep up.  If it is his first year, then he isn't responsible for the defensive woes last year.  And this year we were devastated by injuries on that side of the ball.

I am not defending him (whoever he is :lol2:).  I'm just saying a deeper analysis may be warranted before we send him packing.  CNS will know for sure if he under performed, or possibly over performed given the personnel he had to work with this season.  I have no idea.  What I do know is the defense has been the weak link for 2 years in a row now.

I think Charlie Strong is a good candidate if we decide to make a change, if he has the fire and enthusiasm to keep grinding.

It is a shame that we've had 2 years of probably the most phenomenal offense we have ever put on the field and have nothing to show for it.  It is hard to believe that Tua will leave without ever having led the team to a national championship as the starter.

By the way, I love Sark as the OC.  I hope he sticks around for awhile.

I thought Sark called a great game Saturday.

There were a couple or three times his play calling was ify.  Overall though, I think he has been good for us.  Not sure how well he would have done without the incredible talent at QB that we have though.  (I think we will be very happy with Mac Jones next year to btw)...

For God's sake, show me ANY coach who could hold a defense together with that many injuries.  The loss of DJ Dale finished off the middle of the D. 

The loss of Alfano ended up being the final dagger before the season started; we just didn't realize it then.

We have an OC that is good and bring good stuff he proved it with Mac. So I hope we can fix our kicking and Defensive problems. RTR!
