Title: An Auburn fans perspective on the upcoming Iron Bowl
Post by: Merk on November 14, 2019, 10:17:21 PM
I thought I would share this you all

I have a really good friend that is a die-hard, orange and blue bleeding Auburn fan and alum. His parents and sister are also Auburn alums. We have been friends since high school; even worked together at KFC back when we were in high school. You get the picture.

He absolutely hates Malzahn. Despises him. Loathes him and uses many colorful metaphors (thank you, Spock :eyeroll:) when he mentions Auburn’s football coach.

He actually told me this evening (under the influence of adult beverages, I’m sure) that for the first time in his life, he is pulling for Bama to beat his alma mater. He further states that that this “guy” has split Auburn’s fan base to the point that he doesn’t care what it takes, he and many of his Auburn brethren just want Malzahn gone.

The moral of this story? There will (apparently) be many barners rooting for Bama in  this years rendition of the Iron Bowl either overtly or covertly. Who would have ever thought that an Auburn coach would force the Auburn faithful to cheer for “Bammer”.

Is the world ending?? :lol2:

Maybe for Malzahn if we spank his azz.  :lol2:

That's pretty ridiculous. I don't think any of us was a fan of Shula and wanted him gone, but I doubt any Bama fan was rooting for another team to beat us.

Only the boogs.

Wouldn't it be awesome if, after Bama scores a TD against the booger-eaters the entire Awbren fanbase were to cheer?  Then when/if the booger eaters score they all sat on their hands and didn't say a word?

Do you remember a poster named GottfriedSucks from another forum? He openly and brazenly pulled foe Bama's basketball opponents. He came on this forum briefly talking his negative crap and Jamos ran his azz off.

I remember him.  He is from the Huntsville area.  We had lunch together a couple of times years ago.  Really nice guy when not talking about Gottfried...

I remember him very well and agreed with him. He was very harsh and over-the-top with his language but the bottom line is he was right. Gottfied was fired, went to NC State & was fired. His name came up in the FBI investigation of college basketball. I was calling for his firing 2 1/2 years before he was fired. I think the poster died a few years ago. Being negative doesn’t mean you’re wrong or a bad person. Sometimes those crimson-colored glasses will blind you to the obvious.

I didn't say he was wrong for wanting Gottfried fired. I did find it offensive that he publicly pulled for Bama"s opponent and was vulger and obnoxious about it.

More interesting will be who roots for whom in the Georgia v Auburn game.

Some Auburn fans might root for Georgia.

Some Bama fans might root for Auburn.

It might help us if UGA loses so I want UGA to lose. Do not confuse that with me pulling for Auburn. I will never pull for Auburn. The results of this game will be fine with me who ever wins. It is never bad when the boogs lose and UGA needs to get out of our path to the Playoffs.
