Title: "Alabama special teams addresses struggles"

I was hoping this story would discuss how we were changing our preparation or practices to address this issue.  Instead it's Saban acknowledging that we have problems.

In the punting game, sophomore punter Skyler DeLong is averaging only 33.88 yards per attempt, with eight punts in five games. Consequently, the Crimson Tide ranks last in the Southeastern Conference.

“It’s not been what we’d like for it to be,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said Wednesday.

The lack of attempts definitely qualifies as a good problem to have, and can be directly attributed to Alabama’s dynamic offense. Even when it does kick it's often from midfield after gaining ground out of opposing territory.

Nevertheless, it's still something that needs to improve before Alabama faces tougher competition.

Punt returns are another area Saban is looking for improvement. ...

Stats are also included.  We rank 14th in the SEC in average punt distance.

We're definitely missing our punter from a few years ago.

Bama's offense is so prolific that the punter also ranks last in number of attempts.  While he could use the practice, it's not a bad problem to have.  I wonder if that factor, plus the fact that Bama more often than not punts from close to mid-field rather than deep in its own territory, has something to do with the stats.   ???

If this was the worst of our problems, I could live with it.

You mean, "IF WE HAD EXPERIENCED LBs AND ENOUGH DEFENSIVE LINEMEN, I could live with it."

yes, the defense is a bigger concern than the punting game...

I just hope that the defense and offense cover the punter to where we don't need him. I wonder why, no walk on wants punt and kick? RTR!

If we only play New Mexico State type teams we don’t worry about punting. What happens when we play good teams like LSU, UGA, Auburn, Clemson, Oklahoma, Ohio State, etc, and field position might be critical?

Yeah, let's just disband now.  I can't enjoy Alabama unless they are perfect.
