Title: NIT Bracket
Post by: Catch Prothro on March 17, 2019, 07:58:53 PM
Bama is a No. 1 seed in the NIT Tournament.  Here's the bracket PDF:

If Bama and Dayton both win their first games, CAJ will face Anthony Grant (coaching Dayton) in the second round.

There will be at least one sign in Coleman asking Grant to return.  I won't be holding it, but there's sure to be some smartie out there who will do it.

Some unthinkable names in there like Georgetown, Butler, Texas, Clemson, Indiana. Crazy as it seems it was an up or down year for teams. RTR!

I'm not sure anyone wants that.

Also Xavier, Memphis, Creighton, Wichita State, Arkansas, Providence, NC State...

It's going to be a tough tournament.

Whoever wins will deserve a trophy.

Unlike Marshall Dillion, I am glad that we are in the NIT.  I think we have the potential to go further in the NIT than we would in the NCAA tourney.  More games = more practice/experience which can only help in the long run...

I talked with 2, and I reminded him that his bracket is due.  Said he'd fill it out tonight.

Using the words “glad to be in NIT” is sad to me since we should be in the Big Dance with the players we have. Coaching, coaching, coaching.

I don't know about getting "embarrassed," but I'd be shocked if the team shows the motivation and drive required to do well against this pretty tough competition.

That would be a disaster for CAJ. NC State had a sellout for their NIT game.

Never thought that an Alabama basketball coach might have his job in jeopardy if he lost to Norfolk State. What a fall for Tide BB.

Mack would come out right now and probably not go back in.  He turned it over and jogged getting back to defend.

Six turnovers, 3 by Ingram. Mack is a “gun” and no defense.

Mack was taken out.  They said in a game earlier this year, when Mack didn't start, AJ was sending him a message about playing both ends of the court.

I can't say that I'm too upset about us losing.  I was ready for this season to be over.  I'm almost glad we got embarrassed if it will wake some folks up.  I'm somewhat ashamed to feel that way, but feel that way I do.

I think a lot of people feel that way. The team had many problems, but the most glaring is that the ball handling was atrocious. They ere a run-away turnover machine. You can't win with that.

The fish stinks from the head down.  Time to change the head!  Sad to have to say that but three years with basically the same results is enough info to make a judgment about what the future will be like.

The only arguments I can think of for keeping CAJ around another year are [1] the size of the buyout and [2] that he seems (so far) to be running a 'clean' program.  With the FBI investigation ongoing that could be worth hanging onto for another year.  However, if there is a strong candidate out there who also has run a clean program and has given indication that he WANTS to come to Bama, then I say you gotta grab that guy while you can.  We'll see.
