As you recall, last year Daniel Wright was suspended from the team and had surgery.  No word on him lately, but considering that we signed no 5-star DBs he's still needed next season.

Punter Mike Berner had always been identified as a “Senior” last season, and everyone rightfully assumed that meant 2018-19 was his final season.  However, it appears his Alabama career may not be over just yet. Bernier is listed on the 2019 roster as “ Redshirt Senior”.

Starting guard Deonte Brown was suspended prior to the Orange Bowl, and he missed the Championship game as well. Also suspended were reserve OL Elliot Baker and reserve TE Kedrick James. All three are believed to have been given a six game ban that rolls over into the coming season’s first four games.  BTW, Baker is not on this year's roster (he gone).

Cornbread Brown being suspended for the first four games would mean 3 brand new OL starters.  While our first four games should be cake walks, it would've been nice to have developed some consistency and communication within the ranks by the 5th game @ Texas A&M and 6th game vs. Tennessee.

We're pretty loaded at the O line. I think we'll be fine. I do hate that we have to wait for Brown, though.

It is ridiculous that we have not played USCe since 2010. A senior that stays for 4 years should play each conference team once at a minimum in his career. That is one another reason why I think the SEC should add a 9th conference game. The other reason is three cupcakes is too many.

Bama added another punter, Jack Martin from McGill (Mobile), to this year's class. 
Speculation is that Skyler DeLong isn't progressing as hoped, and we need an alternative.

I think we'd all be happy with 40-45 yards, Preacher.  We averaged 34.71 yards in net punting last year though.  That's good for 114th out of 129 teams.

Rest of the story was that DeLong was kicking LONG in practice, but couldn't get it done during games.  Guess they hoped the progression would mean he'd finally start getting it done.

Mosley agreed to leave the Baltimore Ravens for a five-year, $85 million contract from the Jets that includes $51 million of guaranteed money, NFL Network and nj.com reported on Tuesday morning. NFL Network reported the former Alabama All-American agreed to the contract at 3 a.m. EDT Tuesday.  NFL teams could begin negotiating with potential free agents at 11 a.m. CDT Monday. Mosley can't sign with the Jets until 3 p.m. Wednesday, when his current contract with the Ravens expires.

With an average value of $17 million, Mosley’s contract is $3.5 million more than the average value of the next most lucrative inside-linebacker contract -- the four-year, $54 million deal that former Oxford High School standout Kwon Alexander will sign with the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday. Before this week, the highest average value for an inside linebacker’s contract was $12,360,313 for Lukey Kuechly of the Carolina Panthers.

Bama is shutting down Terrell Lewis for the remainder of the spring.  I hope this is truly for precautionary reasons as claimed and not that he's having lingering issues with his knee.

The New Offensive Strategy:

Naturally, fans are wondering if Saban and Sarkisian are going to make major changes to the offense and all signs point to no. Alabama isn’t suddenly going to try and revert back to seven, eight years ago and primarily become a power offense again, especially with the way the game is set up to aid tempo and spread attacks.

The other part of that equation, of course, is Tagovailoa. He’s already on the record about what fans should be looking for when the season starts.

“With Coach Sark, it’s really full-field progression reads,” he said. “Last year, we worked more on RPO, and we had that opportunity to perfect it. Now we’re trying to protect full-progression reads, so reading the entire field this year. I think implementing pure progression reads and RPOs is really going to be big for us this season.”

It other words, Alabama will be looking to attack anywhere and everywhere, especially downfield.

I think he got away from that a little towards the middle to end of the year, hence the interceptions.  I remember in the NC game on his second pick the corner dropped off the rec and basically had the deep receiver double covered.  It is hard to force the ball in the SEC.

That was a good strategy by Clemson.  They showed Tua blitz, so he simply threw long to Jeudy.  Must have been something they picked up on film.  Jeudy was blanketed.

And if you think not enrolling early means not being able to contribute early, look at guys like Jaylen Waddle and Patrick Surtain II who both enrolled in the summer last year and both went on to putting together incredible first years..

Was watching PF yesterday. He had a guy on that was rating the college QBs for this upcoming season. There were 5 people involved in the voting of the rankings. Trevor Lawrence was rated #1 and Tua #2 by a vote of 3-2. Fromm was rated #3 and Jalen was ranked #5.

What about the Boog QBs?   :dunno:
