Title: Vinnie Sunseri expected to join the Tide staff as a grad assistant

Former Alabama safety Vinnie Sunseri is expected to join the Tide staff as a graduate assistant, sources told AL.com.

A fifth-round pick of the New Orleans Saints in 2014, Sunseri last played in the NFL in 2016 when he was a member of the San Francisco 49ers.

After starting seven games as a sophomore at Alabama in 2012, Sunseri was emerging as one of the nation’s top safeties in 2013 and had two pick-sixes during the team’s first seven games of that season but suffered a season-ending knee injury and then left for the NFL.

I really like this.  Saban has been here long enough that some of his Bama boys are now entering the coaching ranks.

I didn't realize Sal was the DL coach at Florida now until I just looked him up.

Kind of an odd story, the Sunseris lived by my sister's family back when he was at Alabama A&M for a year or two.  My BIL always talked about two kids next door that were great athletes, and he would throw balls around with (my BIL used to throw a baseball 88mph).  I saw them (Tito and Vinnie) out shooting ball several times when I visited, but I never realized who they were until Vinnie had been playing at Bama a few years and my sister mentioned it.

Vinnie was one of those guys who wasn't the most talented athletically, but he made up for it by being one of the smartest players on the field.  He always seemed to know where the football was going.  He was a ball hawk.  Could be the makings of a great defensive coach.   :popcorn2:

I sure do hope so he makes a good coach. We need some so badly that will teach discipline and sound football. RTR!

I can't wait until Jalen Hurts comes back home as a GA to learn how to be a QB coach...

Definitely a possibility.  His dad is a coach.  He is tight with Saban.

Speaking of Dad, he's coming back too.

Yeah, my dad wouldn’t be much help. He’s been deceased since 1976.  :lol2:

We were talking Jalen -- I don't see his dad making Saban's staff anytime soon.   ;)

You know the dad and son coaching on the same staff would really be something. Especially them both being Alabama family members. RTR!
