Title: AU's white towel.
Post by: crimson13 on November 26, 2018, 08:21:15 AM
Was it just me, or did you think AU waved the white towel at the end of the 3rd quarter.  Looked to me like they started bleeding the clock early in the 4th.

Maybe they hadn't formally waved it, but they already had it out of their pocket and in their hand before halftime.  Gus knew there was no way he could run a conventional 2-minute offense against us and didn't even try.  You're trailing the #1 team in the country, and you're happy to sit on the ball and let them have it the first possession of the 2nd half?  You ain't trying to win, you're just trying to keep it as close as you can.

Yes and 52 points is great way to keep it close. RTR!

Gus started running the ball, and gaining 2-4 yards per carry, when we were ahead by 24 points (45-21).  There were 35 secs left in the 3rd Q when it started.

My BIL and I both thought he was trying to run the clock and beat the betting odds.  That's the way it appeared.

Either way, it was a POS strategy; very Aub-like!   :lol2:
