Title: Nalt's Hawaii pics Post by: N.AL-Tider on October 13, 2018, 12:22:22 AM This pic is the unofficial state bird for Hawaii. Several years ago two hurricanes hit the island of Kauai and destroyed some chicken houses. The chickens that lived were never caught and reproduced many times over. There are now chickens EVERYWHERE on the island, literally.

For those that don't already know, Waimea Canyon is referred to as the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific." I hope to get more pics from the upper end soon.

Runt told me to get "something" from the site but I told him that I can't do that. When I was taking pics of it a homeless guy came up telling me that I better get the pics quickly because the place will be gone soon. He tried to tell me that there is some evil, black magic associated with the pacle. I told him that I don't believe in that stuff and am not superstitious.

There's a glass beach in Fort Bragg, Calif. LF and I visited there when on vacation. Also had been a dump. But it became so popular that they banned glass collection from it. It is actually close to Niihau. It is actually difficult to see but if you look on the horizon right in the middle then you can see the small island. Not sure if it actually has a name or not.

There are so many "islands" in the Hawaiian string that most people have no clue about. I didn't either until just this week. There are actually hundreds of islands in the roughly 1500 mile string. This is the Kiluaea lighthouse. It is really beautifully restored. I didn't go down to tour it this trip but I did in 2015 when I was here. Just incredible.
