Title: SEC Tournament Bama v Aggies
Post by: Catch Prothro on March 08, 2018, 11:50:44 AM
OK, I'll watch.  Today at Noon on SEC Network.

Joe Lunardi has Bama in the "First Four Out" for the NCAA Tournament.  So even though Bama has played poorly lately, the season isn't over yet.

What a finish!!!

Sexton hits a 2 with 16 secs left to take a 2 point lead.

Aggies hit a 3 with 4.2 secs left to take a one point lead.

Sexton drives the court and hits a basket as time expires.

Bama Wins!

Final Score.   Bama 71  Aggies 70.   #+

The talking heads are saying that with the win, Bama will make the NCAA Tournament.

Thanks to CP and Chech (texts) for the update. Glad we won, but it sounds like we darn near blew an engine down the stretch. At least leaking oil.

I have a hard time believing that we have a good chance of getting in at this point. Maybe, if we beat the barn tomorrow, but I'm very skeptical about our chances right now.

A&M should pay Ingram's scholarship.  Ingram tried to give it away all by himself, with turnovers and missed shots in the final 10 minutes.  We went almost 7 min without a field goal during Ingram's screwups.  FINALLY Sexton took over and scored the final 3 baskets for the win.

Good job. I hope Sexton comes back for next year. So, why did CAJ not get Ingram out of the game? RTR!

Based on what they are saying we stand a very good chance of making the tourney. A win  against the barn would be best but we must avoid getting blown out.

10 point lead with 9 minutes left and then Bama went cold.  This team needs one of Saban's FINISH speeches.  Or maybe 10 of these speeches.

Bama is on the bubble, although it could be as a play-in game. After beating the Aggies, Lunardi updated his bracket to have Bama barely making it as an 11 seed.  http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology

Good question Preacher.  Good question. In a critical game, why did CAJ leave Ingram in there for so long?

It could be because he was our second highest scorer with 13 points, our leading rebounder with 9 (4 offensive), second in assists and second in steals. I do not think he played bad. IMO, without him, we lose the game. We were getting killed in the paint and our bigs did nothing. Ingram at least got in there and fought for rebounds. He had as many rebounds as Hall, Smith and Giddens combined.

If we could even up the rebounding effort with A&M (and several other teams), we'd beat them easily, even with our offensive droughts.

I understand that Ingram is a talent.  But today he couldn't recognize that his shots weren't falling, and he kept shooting and driving into crowds.  He nearly cost us the game.

The team played poorly down the stretch including Ingram. The team put Ingram in a bad spot several times by not taking open shots and passing to Ingram with no time left on the shot clock. He had no choice but to put up a bad shot. I still think his effort, 13 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals were key to us winning the game.

Not sure why the negativity focused on Ingram, who led Bama in rebounds and was second in points, assists and steals.  While Sexton won the game, he also has issues with ball handling and 3 turnovers.  And Petty put up hopelessly long 3 pointers and had zero points in the game.  The key is that this team played through adversity and came out on top.  I agree that Ingram played a big part in the victory, second only to Sexton.
