Alabama softball posted a pair of shutouts Friday against Shelton State, winning game one 12-0 before taking game two 11-0.

The majority of the Tide's scoring came on sustained rallies, including an 11-run fourth inning in game one and a seven-run second inning in game two. Both pitchers posted identical lines in each game, with junior Courtney Gettins and freshman Madison Preston each throwing 5.0 innings with no runs allowed with two hits and eight strikeouts.

It was a total mismatch of the two teams but yet entertaining for the fans as Shelton is located in Tuscaloosa and a nice local crowd showed up to watch the local girls battle the Crimson Tide.

I think this team has gotten a lot out of these Fall Brawl games to take into the Spring of next year. Their competition hasn't been the toughest for Bama but they have provided the girls a chance to put into play what they have been working so hard at in practice.

There is a lot of potential on this team but we all know that in softball it all starts with how good is the pitching. Osorio is back and hasn't played in any of the games by design as these games were for the two new pitchers and I think they have responded well to the college level which is much different than high school.

Even though they are playing lesser teams, it's good to see some offensive output.
