Title: Brian Kelly & Notre Dame
Post by: Marshal Dillon on August 18, 2017, 09:32:36 AM
He probably joins Butch Jones and Kevin Sumlin in the unemployment line this season.

Notre Dame has become the punchline to a bad joke over the last 12 months.
From fringe contender for the College Football Playoff last August to 4-8 and a coach in Brian Kelly firmly entrenched on the hot seat, things have changed quite a bit in South Bend since Manti Te'o and Everett Golson led the Fighting Irish to the BCS National Championship Game following the 2012 season.
Kelly is still deflecting blame.
In a story published Thursday by Matt Hayes of Bleacher Report, Kelly specifically blamed fundraising during the season for a football-only facility on 2016's woes, saying that it messed up the year.

And more blame.

Quote
Add that to this list of people and things Kelly has recently blamed for Notre Dame not living up to expectations compiled last year by SB Nation. He even blamed the center for inconsistent shotgun snaps against NC State last year in a game that took place in the middle of Hurricane Matthews. I'm no coach, but maybe -- just maybe -- shotgun snaps in the middle of driving rain aren't the best idea in the world.

ND made a mistake signing on to play ACC teams, instead of their traditional Big10 matchups.  The Big10 is overrated and could help ND look decent.  The ACC, IMO, is the second best conference in the country, and better than the SEC East.  ND will continue to be exposed playing those games.

Good point. Notre Dame is built like a Big Ten team, big, slow, with limited speed & quickness. ACC is more like the SEC, with team speed & quickness, big players who are also quick, and lots of solid players at the skill positions.

ND is finally playing a competitive conference-like schedule.  One where there are no gimmies and  you get hit all game week after week.  And they are being exposed for what they are.  Sportswriters can't prop them up anymore or they would look stupid.

I love it!!!

I have a feeling ND wins 5 games this year if they are fortunate enough to get the ball to bounce their way. RTR!

Me, too. Some very interesting games this year for ND. Georgia early, @UNC, USC, Catholics vs Cons @ Miami, NC State, & @ Stanford.

ND has been relevant once in the last 25 years........until they played Bama. Made them irrelevant again in a hurry.

They could have been relevant if Manti Teo's girlfriend hadn't been exposed as an imaginary person...
