Title: College Football Games-Saturday October 1st
Post by: Marshal Dillon on October 01, 2016, 01:01:12 PM
Some crazy stuff in football so far. Miami has scored 2 defensive TD's on Ga. Tech back-to-back in first half. 28-14 Miami in 3rd qtr.

Defensive "guru" Charlie Strong & Texas has surrendered 37 in first half to Okie State & made it look easy. 37-25 Okie State at half. Also, Texas has had 3 kicks (PAT) blocked. Incredible. They need to hire Bobby Williams as their Special Teams coach. Plus, Texas has surrendered 50 & 43 points in 2 games so far this season.

Notre Dame fired its defensive coordinator and Coach Kelly threw his entire team under the bus after last weeks loss. Notre Dame responds by allowing 27 points in first half against Syracuse. 33-27 ND at half.

Texas scores but after 3 blocked PAT's, they are going for 2 instead of kicking. 43-31 Okie State. I just don't see keeping his job after 3 years of ugly football under Strong. If Texas can get Herman from Houston, then Strong is gone. No defense under Strong.

His showboating cost UT an easy TD, now UGA is driving the ball down the field by running over the UT defense. Wow.

Georgia is absolutely embarrassing Tenn. like a redheaded step child. I would say Tenn. better get some players and or coaches if players give up that easy. GOD, if that had been us CNS would be kicking somebody all next month. Hey wow I am perfect in my picks so far. RTR!

Showboating Hurd (#1) costs his team 14 point swing. UT loses easy TD & UGA takes ball to get TD. UT better come up with a plan to stop the UGA running game or they will get 300 yards rushing. 17-0 UGA.

He prolly thinks he lost the Heisman and the NC when that player was stopped 1-yard short.  And he might be right!

As wild as that game was, nothing compares to the UT-Ga game yesterday, except for maybe the LSU-barn game last week.

UT is the luckiest team on the face of the earth.

I wasn't able to watch live, but was following ESPN's gamecast on my ipad. When I saw the play later I thought it was crazy that the receiver didn't make any effort to dive or stretch for the first down or TD.

Thought the same thing.  He could have lunged to the first down.  AND NO WAY Clemson could have stopped Louisville after that.  Every one of UL's preceding plays was close to a TD.

  True.

But Clemson had 4 turnovers, and UL still couldn't get the win.  UL will prolly drop to ~11th, and Clemson will crawl up again.

I thought Clemson got away with interference, nearly at will, in the first half.

Impressed with L. Jackson.  He's probably still in the Heisman race despite the loss.

What I don't agree with is talking heads saying Louisville could be a second ACC team in the playoffs.

Playoffs should be SEC winner (Bama penciled in), ACC winner (Clemson penciled in), Big10 winner (Ohio State penciled in).  And then probably PAC12 winner, especially if Washington rolls.  I don't see Big12 having an undefeated "champion" and don't think they make the playoffs.

Wow, didn't see that.  Before last week's loss to Wisconsin, ESPN did a long segment on MSU and how they've improved over a 'fine 2015 team'.  Bragged on their discipline, team toughness, coaching, and overall program.  Then they had their azz handed to them!  And again yesterday?  LOVE IT!   :lol2:

The PAC12 stinks from top to bottom, and Washington has about the weakest non-conference schedule in the nation. If Louisville's only loss is being stopped at the goal line on the road to an undefeated Clemson team (obviously a lot of games left for both teams), I'd have a hard time putting Washington in ahead of Louisville. If Houston beats Louisville, then they'll have two wins more impressive than Washington. As always, it's going to be a wild ride from here to there. And a fun ride, as long as Bama keeps winning.

The Indiana win followed missed field goals by each team, a penalty on one that gave Indiana life, and MUCHO mistakes.  SLOP!
BTW, I heard a discussion about Indiana before the season.  Lots of details about 'this may be their year' and such.  So not a huge surprise.... BUT expect it to end with that win.   :lol2:

The barn is on track to get the Birmingham Bowl bid. The win over La Monroe gets them to 3 wins. They need to beat Miss St, Vandy and Alabama A&M to get to 6 wins. I do not think they will beat Arkansas, Ole Miss, UGA or Alabama.
