Game is on SEC Network @ 6 pm in T-Town. A&M is ranked 15th in nation so this could be a big win for Tide.

Not a bad week.

Quote
As a result of his play last week, senior guard Retin Obasohan was named the SEC Player of the Week after averaging 20.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists a game in wins over Mississippi State and Missouri last week. Obasohan, who also claimed the weekly honor for the week of Dec. 14, became the first Alabama men's basketball player to earn the recognition twice in the same season since Kennedy Winston did so during the 2004-05 campaign.

I believe this game with a win could be even bigger than the win against USCe. We would actually be .500 in the SEC and that would look like a sister kiss but still it shows we are claiming out of the bottom. I would love to see us get in a position for the tourney to win a couple of games. I guess my looking toward the big dance is my idea. RTR!

My biggest concern is the health of Shannon Hale. We have to have him to make a run through A&M, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, & Georgia.

This will be a very physical game so Kessens & Taylor must step it up a notch. A&M has two 6'7" guards, a 6'5" guard, a 6'1" guard, 6'3" guard & two 6'10" guys under the basket, & a 6'8" forward.

8-3 A&M early. Beautiful move by Obasohan but A&M hits another 3. Norris hits 3, 11-8 A&M.

Norris scores again. He looks so confident, great news for Tide. 13-10 A&M. Timeout.

We're dribbling too much & trying to run clock. Not good. 62-56 Tide  2:51 left.

Really not good.  Aggies down by 1 point after 2 minutes.  53 secs left.

We are getting sloppy with stupid fouls & too much dribbling. Coleman throws up brick. Are you kidding me, now A&M hits 3. 63-62 Tide. This is what slowing the game does to the offense.

Bama dodged a bullet there.

Aggies shooting 2 FTs with 2 seconds left, down by 1 point, and their best FT shooter misses both FTs.

Well as I said somewhere before, this would be a BIG win for us. It would bring us to .500 in the SEC. So, now we should ahead some others and not long till the tourney comes up. I would like to see us as a #5 or 6 team if not #4. RTR!

Sounds like Bama tried to blow the game but held on to win in spite of themselves.  Maybe they are figuring out how to finish games.

Glad to see they beat a good A&M team. Looks like from what I've read, that they must have gotten tired at the end, but still found a way to win. Kudos for a big win!

I would say it was more like aTm found a way to lose.

But I will give us credit for building a big enough cushion in the first place that we were able to stay ahead of them in spite of the poor play at the end.

Bottom line, we were 0-21 against ranked teams before this year.  Now we are 4-2 against ranked teams this year.  That is a YUGE improvement any way you look at it.  :lol2:

One thing I keep wondering about is our ability to build a big lead but it seems at the end of the game we give our lead away every time. Is this because we are not in shape to play a whole game or what is going with it? I would think CAJ would get these guys in better shape than what we are if that is indeed the problem. RTR!

I think it's a combination of being tired and/or the other team hitting a hot streak. Remember, Hale has missed 7 games, I think, & Ingram played in only 7 so we are short-handed.

Wow, what a few wins can do for the Bama fans. I'm really glad for the fan base after what all of them went through with the last two coaches. CAJ made a promise when he was hired that he would take this team to the Big Dance but I don't think anyone could honestly believe that he could do it in his first year as coach. Well, he has a shot at doing it and it's a long shot but it is a shot.

So many good things are happening with the basketball program now, they'r are winning some games they weren't supposed to win and now the national media is jumping on the Bama bandwagon. Dick Vitale recently tweeted that folks had better watch out because that Bama team is making a move and just wait until CAJ gets his players in. Now how big is that? Vitale has a lot of clout in the college basketball world and he's the kind of guy you really want on your side.

Last night's game wasn't a pretty game but Bama isn't a team just yet that will have many pretty games. Bama doesn't have enough players with the skills to win pretty unless they are on fire from the outside. The South Carolina game in Tuscaloosa is about as pretty of a win that Bama will have this year and Bama was hitting from the outside that night.

Saturday's game at Florida will be a tough one. Florida is the better team and the game is at Florida but Bama does have a chance to win. If they can play Florida the way they played South Carolina, it could happen. Bama will need that outside shot though to have a chance to win. There have been two games this year, Oregon and South Carolina, where I thought Bama shot the ball good. This is the effort they will need to beat the Gators. The thing I fear most though in this game will be the whistle blowers, hopefully it won't be another South Carolina game.

Anyway, I feel good about where the team has gotten to and where they are going. This time last year, I didn't feel this way at all. RTR!!!

I have seen improvement the last 4-5 games especially in rebounding, more energy/enthusiasm (if that's possible), & confidence. Riley Norris shooting & scoring more is a major plus. We have several players who can get hot & score, guys like Obasohan, Norris, Hale, Coleman, & Edwards. True freshman Brandon Austin has shown promise. Hall has looked good the last 2 games & we need that from a big man. Florida on the road is a major test. UF is 16-8 with an RPI of 23 & SOS of 6, 7-4 in SEC play, but we can take them.

I agree with all that is said But, my addition to this post is the last 8 minutes iof the game. We have got to play the last 8 minutes just like we play the first half. We can't give the game away at end of the game. This is what has been hurting us. RTR!
