Title: Cubs Advance, Dodgers Leading Mets
Post by: Marshal Dillon on October 13, 2015, 08:02:54 PM
Cubs eliminate the Cardinals to advance to the NLCS. Dodgers lead 3-0 against Mets in 3rd inning. If Mets lose, Dodgers will play the Cubs for the NL pennant.

Not a Cubs fan, but they are due some baseball glory. Plus, I can't stand the Mets or Dodgers. The Cubs, Pirates, & Cards had great years.

2003

They last won the Pennant in 1945

They last won the World Series in 1908

Yes, they're due.

I lived in Chicago for exactly one baseball season, when I was in my early 20s.  (Left for warmer climes with Winter II approaching).

Me and two buddies went in for Cubs season tickets -- weekend games only.  (This was before they put lights on the stadium, so we couldn't make the weekday games.)  We had great seats about half-way down the first base line on the lower deck.

I've only been to a few MLB stadiums, Braves, Cardinals, Rangers, White Sox, but there is something special about Wrigley Field.  There is the sign that welcomes you as you enter, the ivy along the outfield wall, but I think mostly it was the fans.  In a crowded city with everyone rushing around, mostly staying indoors for 5 months because of the bone freezing cold, Wrigley Field is a place to sit outside on a nice day (drink a few beers with your buds), relax and watch a baseball game.  Cubs fans were so grateful for the experience, the result never seemed to matter.

Pretty good list of visited stadiums. I have been to Royals Stadium, Dodger Stadium, both Braves Stadium's (old Fulton County Stadium), Baltimore Harbor, & Cardinals (Busch). Would love to take my son to Fenway, Wrigley, & Busch stadiums. He's been to Yankee Stadium & Turner Field.

Gosh I went to the old Fulton County Stadium and set in just about every general location there except behind home plate. I use to love to Dale, Bob Horner, Hank when I was in my younger days. Out all of them to watch Phil Niekro pitch was a dream. You never knew who might hit the ball or who the ball might hit. rofl, RTR!

I just made it to Wrigley for the first time 3 weeks ago.  The game we got tickets to (against the Pirates) turned out to be a pretty big deal.  The stadium itself is cramped and not very fan friendly, but the atmosphere was pretty special.  I spent more time looking around the stadium than I did watching the game I think.  The same group of us are hoping to make Fenway next season.

My list of visited stadiums is pretty similar to yours.  I've been to all of those except Baltimore, and I also went to the old Riverfront Park in Cincinnati about 2-3 days before the strike in 1994.  I was upset that Mike Piazza didn't play that day.

Oh, and GO DODGERS!
