Title: 'What's gone wrong?' Paul Finebaum, Kevin Scarbinsky talk Auburn's struggles
Post by: Jamos on October 06, 2015, 08:27:17 PM
Auburn's soap opera season saw yet another chapter unfold, setting off another round of passionate discussion about the state of the program among college football fans and media Tuesday afternoon.

The program announced the dismissal of star wide receiver Duke Williams from the team Monday night, adding yet another storyline to the list of struggles head coach Gus Malzahn and his program have faced so far in 2015.

We've all said many times that Auburn has more luck than any team Bama plays but I think they will need more that luck this time. The fambly seems to be about to abandon the Gus Bus which some people said long ago would happen in time.  :-\

I wonder who they will get next?  No serious coach would even consider going there at this point.

JSU head coach John Grass of the #1 Gamecocks in FCS football?

Quote
John Grass begins his second season as head coach of the Gamecocks and his third season at JSU after what has been an unprecedented two years.

Grass served as the Gamecocks’ assistant head coach and offensive coordinator in 2013 and orchestrated an offense that set numerous school, OVC and national records before taking the reigns as the head coach for the 2014 season.

That first season as a collegiate head coach saw him take JSU to a 10-2 record and as high as No. 2 in the national polls, thanks to a perfect 8-0 mark in league play and the Gamecocks’ first outright Ohio Valley Conference title since 2004.

A program that had never seen a 5,000-yard season in over 100 years of tradition, the two seasons under Grass’ offensive mind have seen the Gamecock offense amass over 6,000 yards of total offense in each. His offense has rewritten the JSU record books and set a new standard for production on that side of the football.

By the way, I'm pretty sure Finebaum was one of the idiots claiming Auburn would win the SEC.  To his credit though, he did jump off the bandwagon quicker than Joey Galloway.

Disgruntled barn star players that leave the team early get a buyout package similar to fired barn coaches to keep them quite. HTH.

Everyone keeps going back to Chizik & his disaster. This kinda stuff goes back to Shug Jordan. Remember all the love for Shug. In 25 years at the Barn, he won 1 NC & 1 SEC title, in 25 years! His winning percentage is .675, something you get fired for at Alabama after 4 or 5 seasons, maybe sooner. How about Terry Bowden, in 1993 he goes 11-0 but resigns after starting 1-5 in 1998. Even Pat Dye had a yo-yo career at the Barn. He won or Dye-tied for 4 SEC Championships in his 12 years there, but he lost at least 4 games in 5 different years. His winning percentage was 71% at the Barn, but he is their "greatest" coach. Talk about a dysfunctional football program.
