Title: Latest technology on sidelines.
Post by: crimson13 on October 04, 2015, 02:46:41 PM
Did anyone notice the sideline reporter talking about Bama having all the latest technology on the sidelines.  She said something to the effect that this was the first time she has ever seen players getting oxygen during a game. :lol2:  Where has she been?  Duh, the players also don't wear leather helmets these days.

Yeah, I told LF that I remembered seeing that for the first time during an Army-Navy game (1960s?).

I thought the same thing.   Clearly she isn't an "expert."

I kept waiting for her to explain why these oxygen tanks were the latest and greatest or something, but no, it was just "they brought their own oxygen tanks."

Wow, what's next, sideline heaters, or maybe something to keep the players cool on hot days.   ???

Reminds me of when George W. Bush was fascinated by scanners at the grocery store.   :lol2:

I think the next "great thing" for football players will be umbrellas.  They can run around the field holding them over their heads for shade if it is sunny or to keep dry if it is raining...   8)

WOW! Great idea.  I think the umbrella idea could also be used in the game of golf.  Maybe you should send her an email with this idea for her next sideline report.

Nah, her next assignment has already been determined.  Someone from the network is going to tell her that they have just started having "non-footbal players" that run around the sideline with water and gatoraide handing it out to the players.  Rumor has it they are gonna call these folks, "waterboys."  Where do they come up with this stuff?  ???

She will be overwhelmed if she discovers the pictures of the Road Runner and Yosemite Sam that we use to send in the plays.

Funny, but someone on BOL just posted a new thread about this yesterday.  They need to visit CRS more often to get the latest info. :)

That's my memory, because when I played ball in high school we still drank that salty crud.  I'll check wiki....

Yep, here (WIKI): "The beverage was first developed in 1965 by a team of researchers at the University of Florida, to replenish the combination of water, carbohydrates, and electrolytes that the school's student-athletes lost in sweat during rigorous sport activities."

That was even before their time, Preacher. Ray Graves was their coach in 1965.
