Title: NCAA claims Donnie Tyndall hired staff members solely for cheating
Post by: roll tide roll on July 28, 2015, 01:17:18 PM
Tyndall coached Southern Miss from 2012 to 2014 before becoming Tennessee's coach for the 2014-15 season. He was fired in March after the NCAA notified Tennessee officials of the alleged violations that occurred at Southern Miss.

The alleged infractions include arranging fraudulent academic credit for prospective student-athletes, providing impermissible financial aid and refusing to cooperate in the NCAA investigation.

Incredible. The question is, why did Tennessee hire this guy? Wow.

I don't think they knew anything about it at the time. They sure cut his butt lose as soon as they did, though.

SMH. You would think coaches would learn not to pull this crap. Good for Ucheat for sending him packing. Looks like Southern Miss will have lots of 'splaining to do.  ???

I think I remember Finebaum saying that UT heard some rumors but when they asked Tyndall about it he denied any major problems. UT never called the NCAA to find out or Southern Miss. No wonder the UT athletic department is so screwed up & losing money.

What do you expect from the school where Fat Phil and Bruce Pearl set the bar for character and integrity?

UT AD and former Bama Asst AD Dave Hart did a terrible job with the UT basketball program following the 20113-14 season. Former Coach Cuonzo Martin bolted at season end after a run to the Sweet Sixteen due to lack of administration support. Hart was under fire to hire a coach quickly and Mike White had just turned him down. Tyndall had NCAA issues at Morehead State prior to Southern Miss. Hart knew Southern Miss was about to be investigated but took Tyndall's word that there was nothing to it.

Years ago I thought Dave Hart would follow Mal Moore as AD at Alabama. We are very lucky UT took him away from us. His tenure at UT has been a train wreck.
