Title: Prayer Request
Post by: pmull on June 28, 2015, 07:42:51 AM
My youngest daughter (Stephanie), who will be a senior at UNA next year, is leaving Wednesday on a six week mission trip to Christchurch, New Zealand. She will be one of a nine member team from Campus Outreach. The members of the team are from four different schools.

The purpose of the trip is meet, develop relationships and share the gospel with college students from New Zealand. She will be staying on a campus with 18,000 college students. New Zealand is a very under-churched and nation has a small population of Christians.

Please pray for Stephanie and the team to have a safe trip to New Zealand and that they will be able to leave a lasting impression on the students by sharing their testimony and introducing them to the gospel.

(Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Mathew 28:19)

Our Father who art in Heaven it has been ask and we now expect to receive in Faith. Lord we pray for your arms of safety to cover traveling Mercies and may your strength be upon each of these students here and there. Lord they are going to be about the Fathers' business and have Faith your Word will not return void. Lift each one up and exalt them as thy WILL deems. For all this you always get all the Glory, Honor, and Praise. In the name of JESUS we ask and pray. AMEN/SELAH

My daughter leaves for New Zealand tomorrow. We will drive her to Atlanta. She will fly from Atlanta to Dallas and have a short lay over before departing for Melbourne Australia which is the long flight of the trip. From Melbourne it is a 2 hour flight to New Zealand. The trip, not including the drive to Atlanta, will take 20 hours.

Please pray for safe travels.

Odd flight plan.  Twice during my trips to Australia we stopped at New Zealand, then on to Melbourne.

Below is an email my daughter sent to friends, family and her support group updating everyone on how the mission trip is going.

Quote
We made it to New Zealand safely after traveling for an entire day. (One of our flights was 17 hours). New Zealand is absolutely beautiful and it is a beautiful display of God’s creation. His glory is everywhere. When we arrived in Christchurch we moved into our house and then we drove 2 ½ hours to a Winter Conference. We stayed at a campsite and met students, staff, and another CCP that is in Dunedin. The topic of the conference was evangelism, so it was really great way to spend our first weekend here.

We had our orientation and we toured the campus. We learned about the difference in ministry in the States and in New Zealand. They told us that people here have very high outer walls, but once you get in their inner walls are a lot lower than Americans.  New Zealand is a post-modern culture so college (Uni) students would say their grandparents went to church but they do not. They are open to hearing about what other people believe, but they do not want it to be pushed on them.  However, if people call themselves a Christian in New Zealand – they really are.

We have gotten to spend a lot of time with the Kiwi Christians and people from the church (Grace Presbyterian). We will begin our full time ministry on campus on Tuesday. As my team and I enter our full time ministry I ask for a couple prayer requests:

1)    1. God would soften the hearts of the Kiwi students – they would be open to talking to us and hearing the Gospel.

2)    2. God would give my team boldness in sharing His truth and that we would truly care and feel compassion for these lost people. Verses that I have been meditating on are Matthew 9:35-38 “And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

We got to see some of God's beautiful creations here so I am attaching some photos.

Thank you again for partnering with me in taking the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Please feel free to e-mail me back with any questions or if you have any prayer requests of your own!

In Christ,
