I can't believe this is happening to him after all of the knee problems he has been through. My thoughts and prayers go out to Jesse and to his family as well. I know this has to be hard on Kuiyam as he has been dealing with cancer in his family already. May God's blessings be with Jesse and the Williams family, this is just sickening to hear.  :(

He won't play football, again. Check the link with slide show. Excellent info.

Beating the Odds

Survival rates are often determined by the stage of cancer at the time of your diagnosis. For those with PRCC diagnosed in stage 1, the odds of surviving five years or longer are better than 80 percent. In more advanced stages, survival rates decline. By the time PRCC reaches stage 4, the five-year survival rate drops to eight percent.

There were folks who said Lance Armstrong would never race a bike again after his cancer diagnosis.

Years ago I worked with a lady that had a tumor in her kidney bed.  It was removed and she eventually came back to work.  After a couple or three years the tumor came back and that one was removed.  She later developed breast cancer and now hopefully rests in peace.  Prayers for Jesse in his battle against this ugly disease.

Jesse, you are in the game of your life right now and it is up to you to win the game.  Make your defensive attack hard and strong and tackle this opponent as you did so many times while playing for the Crimson Tide!  We are all pulling for you...

Is someone's life really worth arguing about just to"being right" about it?

No argument, just stating facts. The man has an excellent chance at a recovery, but he won't play football. Football is nothing, life is everything.

Man, this was hard to read. After all Jesse has gone through, for this to happen seems like rubbing salt in the wound. However, I am convinced that Jesse can beat this. Even if he never plays football again (which is the LEAST important part of this story), I can only imagine what kind of inspiration this young man can be as he battles this disease. My prayers are with him, Kuiyam, and the whole Williams family. Nothing is impossible with God.

This pretty much sums up my feelings on the situation. The guy has been through so much at a young age. I am blessed to have been relatively healthy my whole life and this really sends the message home.

If there is anyone who can beat cancer, it's Jesse. With the new cutting edge cancer treatments available now and he's stage 2, he stands a good chance of living a good life.

Prayers up for him and his family.

Breddy texted me the news on Jesse while I was on the golf course. The wind went right out of my sails. As Chech posted earlier, they are such a fine family, and Jamos posted about the family dealing with other members with cancer, as well. Their plates are full. My heart felt thoughts and prayers go out to Jesse, Kuiyam and the entire family. I have no doubt with everything that Jesse has overcome, that he will beat this.

I tried to call Kuiyam, but my cell phone is not set up for international calls. I will try from my home phone when I get home.

I sure will, CB. I've got to get international phone access and I'll look into that tomorrow.

I was able to get through to Kuiyam's cell phone and received his voice message. I left a message telling him that all our thoughts and prayers go out to Jesse, as well as to him and his entire family. I asked him to call me. I'm sure his plate is pretty full, so I don't know that I will hear from him, but hopefully he will receive my message and know that we are thinking of them.

Kuiyam returned my call. He asked me to express to everyone here, how much it means to him that Jesse and the family are in our thoughts and prayers. Everyone there is optimistic that Jesse will pull through this and play football again. Without going into detail, Kuiyam said he will reach out to me after Jesse's procedure and let me know how things went. They are all in Seattle to be with Jesse through this.

Let's keep up the prayers for this young man and his family.

Don't get to travel all that much.  This is my first trip in over a year actually.  I am still supporting that agency and hope to for a while longer.  Looking forward to this trip but it will be long so I'll also look forward to getting home...

I went from travelling about 15-18 trips a year in 2009 and 2010 to basically not travelling at all now.  I don't really do test support, and they're bringing all the design reviews and such to Huntsville now.  I miss it, but I don't want to go back to 15-18 a year.  I never got to go play in Hawaii.  Mine were all El Paso/White Sands and Northern Massachusetts.  I did get to go to Munich a couple times though.
