Title: Manny Paquiao to Have Surgery
Post by: Marshal Dillon on May 04, 2015, 09:18:52 PM
Wow!!

Quote
Manny Pacquiao will undergo right shoulder surgery later this week to repair a "significant tear" in his rotator cuff, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache told ESPN.com on Monday.

"We have an MRI scan that confirms he has a rotator cuff tear. He has a significant tear," said ElAttrache, who was still with Pacquiao at his Kerlan Jobe Orthopedics office in Los Angeles when he spoke to ESPN.com on Monday evening.

I like Paquiao but I never expected him to beat Mayweather. Paquiano is 3-4 years past his prime. I do not doubt that he was hurt but I also doubt it would have mattered if he was healthy. He needs to take the money (big money) and retire to his home country that is in much need of a hero and role model.

Well this got my attention since I also am having surgery (tomorrow!) to repair a "large tear" in my right rotator cuff.  From my experience, this injury definitely took some of the power out of some of his punches.

I hope Congressman Paquiao will now retire from boxing while he's still healthy and near the top.  He's made a lot of $$$ and is a hero in Philippines.  Time to go home and focus on his political career.  He could be elected President.  Stranger things have happened out there.

Bingo! It's a common injury for pitchers causing them to lose their "power" when throwing. It had to have an affect on Paquiao since he is a power puncher. No way can he fight until 16-18 months imo.

A couple of morons have now filed a lawsuit against him because of his not disclosing the injury:

That could potentially cost Paquiao a lot of money if proven to be factual...

It will be a long challenge, starting with class certification.  Expensive any way you look at it.  Not to mention the criminal (perjury) charges against whoever filled out the form saying no injury.

I had no idea they even had to fill out a form like that.  However, I would bet that Paquiao likely had to sign it regardless of who filled it out.  Somebody's gonna pay more than likely...
