Title: The mediots strike again! New info in Jonathan Taylor case
Post by: Jamos on April 01, 2015, 05:54:52 AM

Mediots are a finnicky, sensitive bunch. Not all members of the media are mediots. The Tuscaloosa News’ Cecil Hurt, for instance, is a legitimate journalist who doesn’t rush into a situation to shoot the first thing that moves. But sadly that can’t be said of everyone.

If all of this is true there has been a grave injustice toward Taylor. Hopefully April Fools isn't involved with this.

But just for a minute, imagine there being a conniving woman out there willing to use a point of weakness against a man trying to turn his life around.

Can't imagine such a thing.

No, not an April Fools joke, I'm afraid.  Just another painful twist in this saga.

Well, it would seem to me that if this woman did fabricate her story about Taylor assaulting her (meaning he didn't do anything wrong) then not only would the mediots owe Coach Saban an apology but Marshall Dillion might also owe an apology to certain posters as well... Maybe time will tell either way...

Regardless, I ain't holding my breath waiting on MD... :eyeroll:

No matter what, I don't think Saban takes Taylor back on the team. There is nothing good about this situation & taking him back could be disastrous down the road.

The Tuscaloosa Police arrested a guy who had a previous felony arrest for the same thing, plus had committed fraud at Georgia after the felony arrest. What was everyone supposed to think? Plus, the University & Saban would not be on the spot now if he had not signed this guy to start with. It's an awful situation, no matter what.

And the story continues. Read the link.

Lt. Kip Hart, the assistant commander of the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit, said during a press conference Tuesday that because the city's police department had probable cause to arrest Taylor on March 28, the charges filed against him that night will stand until the homicide unit can conduct a full investigation of the incident.

Quote
"[Officers] observed injuries to her and damage to the apartment where she said the incident occurred," Hart said. "Based on what they say and based on her original statement, there was probable case to make the arrest."

The Homicide Unit is supposed to be the best detectives & domestic abuse is such a hot potato they want to make sure nothing is missed. The media & public would be watching very closely.

What a train wreck for Coach Saban.

Even if he would agree to meet with Jonathan it would be hard to believe his side of the story at this point, or hers either for that matter.  Based on this latest fiasco and his history of poor decision making (problem solving skills?) things have gone too far and he needs to be cut loose.  Right or wrong it's a black eye for the program.  Also, for the record I don't really didn't have a problem with Coach Saban's decision to give him a chance at Bama.  He has a lot more experience with student athletes than all the "Finebaum's" rolled into one and I trust his judgment.  It's worked before, good example is Rolando McClain who had a troubled past (his words) and channeled his intensity on the field as a team leader.

Sometimes I think they should bring back the athletic dorm.

Bingo! Another disaster decision by the NCAA which has had many unintended consequences. Also, as far as I know, Rolando never had a felony arrest, especially involving abuse of a woman, before or after his recruitment to Alabama. You nailed it, a total train wreck for Saban & the University. What a mess!

I agree on all points.   #+

The NCAA decision to take away athletic dorms was based on sound reasoning, but the end result was a lot of wasted lives.  I once read about Billy Brewer's experiences in the athletic dorm at Ole Miss.  He and his wife lived among the athletes.  They went through hell keeping them all in line, but it paid dividends.  These kids need direction - EVERY NIGHT!
