Title: Bama vs Auburn tonight 7:30 p.m. SEC Network
Post by: Jamos on January 24, 2015, 03:48:52 PM
It's another sellout tonight and hopefully Bama has worked on their rebounding because Auburn has a bruiser in the middle and we don't want to see a repeat of the Arkansas game. ROLL TIDE!!! >:(

We look tired from the late Thursday night road game at Arky. We need to come out inspired and ready in the 2nd half.

Excellent point. We are getting ripped by playing Thursday night games.

Barn being physical, Tide is tentative. Barn 44-35.

I really have a hard time watching our BBall team. We have just let the aubs score 12 pts in a row in the paint. And we are doing nothing about it. We look taller and longer and we can't get in the paint. Very frustrating to watch.

We beat a very bad Barn team 57-55 in a packed home field. Embarassing & frustrating.

Big win for the good guys!!!  Something is really 'off' with this Bama team. Enough talent on this team that they should not be playing this way.  But this win may have saved CAG's job for a while.

Have to disagree. Beating a bad rival team by 2 at our place hurts Grant in my opinion.

Call it what you want but I'll take a 2 point win anytime against any team. I bet you could ask South Carolina and Arkansas if they feel terrible because they only beat this lousy Bama team by only 2 points on their home court. Where would these two point road loses put Bama right now if they had been wins?

I agree with Jamos.  A win is a win.  It was nice to see a sluggish, tired team fight back.  Levi Randolph put the team on his back in the final minutes, what an awesome performance.

This wasn't just another lousy team that Bama beat, this was a rivalry game.  Bruce Pearl said before the game that this was the one win they really wanted, so Auburn was extra motivated.

After a few tough losses, this Bama team could quit, but they haven't.  There are still things to work on, particularly rebounding.  Bama shooters seem to drop back quickly on defense after the shot, instead of chasing their own rebound.   So that's one factor.  But Bama should win the rebounding against a smaller team like Auburn.

We looked tired, played uninspired and at times looked like we did not even want to be there. But we found a way to win and that is huge. Levi Randolph came up big in those last five minutes. Cooper has been an up and down player for us but I will miss him when he is gone.

Officiating... WTH? SEC refs are terrible. It seems I say it after every game win or lose. I have never seen two fouls called in favor of one team turn into technical fouls for the other team. I don't know if the refs affected the outcome of the game but they were just bad. Have you ever seen a game with that many offensive fouls called?

I was very disappointed in the teams effort for most of the game. We have had two straight home sellouts and we played bad in both. This was a rivalry game against the barn. How can we not be ready to play? We struggled to inbound the ball most of the night.

We have an RPI of 45 which is middle of the SEC and puts us on the NCAA bubble. We have Florida coming to Tuscaloosa on Tuesday and we need to win that game.

We dodged a bullet, got the win and kept the season alive.

Did anyone else think CAG blew Pearl off during the post game handshake? It looked like Pearl was trying to say something to him and CAG shook hands and never slowed down. I'm not sure he made eye contact.

Pearl is a good coach but he is a loud mouth jerk on the sidelines. There is a big contrast in their coaching styles and it looked like CAG has a dislike for Pearl.

That's how it looked to me.  CAG gave a cordial handshake and moved on.  It looked like he was looking for someone else to speak with, not necessarily blowing off Pearl intentionally.

Some of the biggest problems that are all correctable:

1.  Lazy passes or the need for more pace on the pass.  Many lazy/slow passes cause unnecessary turnovers.
2.  Slow movement off the ball.
3.  Catch with the intent to shoot first then pass, unless you know you are going to the next guy.
4.  Goes with 3 want to shoot the ball and be the man.

They did affect the outcome of the game. Auburn's goal was to do what Kentucky did to Bama, be very physical on the defense and force Bama to play from beyond the 3 point line. When you watch it on tv you only see where the ball is and I can assure you it was like a rugby match away from the ball, That is why tempers were flaring from the Bama players as Auburn was banging them very hard as they ran their picks and screens away from the ball and no calls were being made. This was especially true with Tarrant being guarded by Auburn's #12, he was just mugging Tarrant and no calls were made at all. He got Tarrant with an elbow in the mouth on a Bama inbounds play with the ref standing there and no call was made and it wasn't long after, Tarrant was ejected from the game. Tarrant's displeasure was affecting the whole team.

I think Grant's displeasure with Pearl stemmed from Pearl's pregame statements last week about him wanting to beat Bama more than any other team and then the physicality of the way Auburn played us. By the way, most of Bama's problems with the refs were on Pearl's end of the court and he stayed in the ear of the refs working them the whole game. The refs had more than one chance to T him up but didn't in the second half and warned him a couple of times.

Well, Pearl caused a schize storm that turned a foul against his best player into an ejection of one of ours. I'd have looked for someone else to chat with too.

I was extremely worried about this game.  The two main causes of my concern were boogerU's tempo and the amount of effort exerted in Fayetteville.

This was BAMA's 3rd game in 8 days.  I think they were tired.

I agree with others who say that BAMA appeared uninspired.

Both teams played poorly.

Fortunately, BAMA's play just well enough to win.

I would like to know what Randolph said to the team during the TO.

Sometimes the most important game to win is the game in which you do not play well.

uf is very beatable, and BAMA should be able to take care of business.

They need to.
