Picture a UT guy with a giant foam hat like this (above).  They were popular during the 1970s, with UT in front.
During the 1971 Alabama-UT game in Birmingham, a UT guy walked in front of the Alabama student section (wearing said hat), raised his hand, and gave a 1-finger salute.

In one of the greatest throws I've ever seen, a student sitting at least 40-45 rows up (behind me) stood and threw an orange at the idiot.  The orange hit him squarely in the forehead, knocked him down, and knocked off the hat.  The idiot stumbled away.  The crowd cheered loudly!

BTW, Bama won 32-15.  The game was never close; wishbone days!.   :lol2: :lol2:

1989 in Birmingham. One of the vendors who supplied corregated, where I worked, took a bunch of us to the game in a stretch limo with a fully stocked bar. UT was ranked ahead of us. Siran Stacey ran wild on the Viles that day. I think the score was 47-30. Was a great day!!!

The game that Bama won...it don't get no better than that regardless of which year... 8)

I've only been to a few of them in person.  I will have to go with Alabama's last tie game.  It was 1993 I think.  Standing room only in Legion Field.  There were no seats to be had, at least not in the student section.  People were standing all along the field level behind the fence.  This is the game were #2 scored on a 2 point conversion at the end of the game to tie the score.

I found the entire game on youtube.  I cued it up to the TD at the end of the game.  We were 5-0 at the time with a 28 game win streak, in the hunt for a repeat national championship.

Do you hear those guys yelling "Roll Tide!  Roll Tide!  Roll Tide!  Roll Tide!" right before the 2 point attempt?  That was me.  :lol:

We had a 7 game win streak against them for that game too.

I think it was 1966 -- the "Missing Ring" team.  Played UT in K'ville on a cloudy, rainy day. UT led the whole game.  Mid to late 4th qtr, with score 10-3, rain stopped and Bama began moving and scored a TD with about 2:00mins left in the game.  CBBP went for 2-points and Snake hit Wayne Cook for the conversion.  Bama held on and won the game 11-10.  UT fans were stunned.

I was the halftime announcer for the MDB and so I was sitting in the PA booth in the press box surrounded by UT folks.  I remember one guy saying (early in the game when UT was leading):  "I think they (Bama) are going to beat us. I think they have a better team."  Boy was that guy prophetic.

In person: 2005 - Bama's first win over Tennessee in Tuscaloosa and really the first time I ever saw Bama win an important/rivalry game at Bryant-Denny.  I was a student from '99-'03 and the biggest win at Bryant-Denny during those years was Mississippi State in '99.

In Asia: 2009 - In the immediate aftermath of the game I was pretty frustrated.  I didn't think there was any way the team was going to finish undefeated and win a championship.  They did, and that game grew to mythic proportions.  It remains my favorite Bama moment since I moved overseas, and I can't imagine anything surpassing it.  

That was a fun game to be at, all the fans yelling "Cody! Cody! Cody!"

We knew who blocked the kick long before the TV announcers.

1969.  The game was in Birmingham, so I drove to Martha Parham Hall to pick up sweet, slender Miss Polly (no way I'm revealing her real name; LF reads this stuff).  :unsure:

"Got your ticket?" I asked.  "Yes, and my ID."  Off we went, driving the old highways to Birmingham.  In those days it was an ordeal: crowded roads, potholes, much work on the interstates that were always 'almost complete'.

Finally, we got to Legion Field, paid to park in someone's driveway, then walked to the stadium.  Next thing I heard was, "Wrong purse", and an embarrassed sweet, slender Miss Polly stood before me.  The next half hour was a blur, but I recall that I paid $50 for a ticket, and was lucky to find one at all.

Miss Polly sat quietly through the first quarter, as did most of the Bama fans; Alabama's team was being buried.  At halftime, while the UT band formed their giant concentric circles of orange, Miss Polly said, "They have a good band too."

We lost 41-14.  That day ended my romance with Miss Polly, but she reappeared 40 years later.  She was married to one of my graduate-school friends.  Small world.

BTW, the "best memories" part of the 1969 game all came prior to game day!   :lol2:

I have been to several UT games but one of my favorite UT game memories I watched on TV.

1992 Bama was 6-0 and still untested in most people minds. It was a road game against a good UT team with Heath Shuler as the QB. I was in Chicago at a industry association meeting. It was an afternoon game and it was being televised regionally. The hotel shuttle bus took a group of us to Ditkas's Sports Bar where we could watch the game. We went up 17-0 and held on to win 17-10. There were about 10 of us who went to the bar together and I was the only Alabama fan. By the end of the game I had those guys and most of the bar cheering for Bama. It was a typical 1992 game. Run the ball, control the clock and play defense.

Does anyone remember the game where UT blocked their own punt? It was in the early 80's. UT was punting and the punt protector backed up too far and the punter kicked him right in the azz. I remember it was a tight game and that play changed the momentum and Bama went on to a nice win.

I do remember that game. Can't remember the year, but I do remember the play. Don't think I've seen one like it since.

I remember a whooping we put on them in 80's when we werent supposed to win.  I wanna say it 42-14 or something similar, Bill Curry era.

Bill Curry does not get much love from Bama fans but he had UT's number. He was 3-0 against them.

I remember when Condredge Holloway came on the scene and was suppose to be a great QB at Tenn. We use to go up on Cheaha MT. and park to listen to the games on radio because we only had AM at that time. lol, RTR!

Help me out here, but I am thinking there was one game in the mid-80s where Bobby Humphrey just went crazy on the Vile defense. Seems like we put up 52 points or something like that. That was awesome.

Not exactly a good memory, but 2010 I ate street food in Beijing 12 hours before kickoff.  At 3:30 AM I woke up and knew I'd made a mistake. I laid on the couch miserable even though Bama was putting a beating on UT. I don't remember a single thing about that game.

I just remembered one, not my best memory (or moment), but I got kicked out of that 2003 game twice.

I had VCR'd that game and had it in a collection of a bunch of games I recorded. That was my favorite of the collection. After we moved to Tennessee, it disappeared. Just one more reason for me to hate that thieving state.

That's it! Bobby had 217 and 3 TDs in 56-28 win at Knoxville. Thanks general.
