I don't give a rat's arse about anything else.  They lost their bowl win over the SEC.  That's enough for me.

What does this mean don't the players still feel they beat Michigan, and won the bowl game? How do you take it from their minds? If they are going to do something then let it be something that reminds them everyday like it did us! RTR!

One problem I have is the following:

Quote
the university also said Friday it is waiving a $250,000 fine imposed on Tressel and changing his resignation to a retirement. The move contradicts a comment university president Gordon Gee made last month when he said Tressel "will pay the fine."

OK, why exactly? Do you think he was punished enough because you took his wins away?

They should have to pay back their BCS bowl game money in addition to vacating the wins.

This is just getting started. They will regret playing those tat-boys in the Sugar Bowl.

That's like saying. We took a gamble by cheating and we lost. If we had not cheated, we would have prolly lost all of our games anyway. So, this is right where we would have been had we not cheated. Ergo...there is no punishment in what was self imposed. That should be the very foundation of things to come. Like this

1. Vacate all victories

2. Forfeit all games ( other team gets to count them as a victory, since you played illegal players it had a direct effect of what happened "on the field."

3. Loss of Schollies....A butt-load of 'em too.

4. Probation 5 years.

5. Bowl Ban...5 years.

6. each uniform in place of a name, should be labeled " CHEATERS"  front and back.

7. Tressel should  have to walk down the road picking up cans on the side oft he highway. Gee should carry the sack for him...

8. Continued...

Exactly. The two best ways to hurt a program is financially and with scholarship reductions. These so-called sanctons imposed by OSU are a joke. No loss of schollys, no bowl ban, no tv ban, nothing of any real import. The NCAA will have much different ideas when they drop the hammer.

I'm against taking victories from a team just as a punishment. Okay if you have an illegal player who won the game for you (like Auburn), but not for off-the-field actions that would not affect the game's outcome. If you traveled to a Bama game and sat there as we won a good victory, nobody can come back and tell us we actually lost because players misbehaved at another time on campus. A fine or recruitment restrictions or future bowl ban is enough. But a victory is a victory.

According to ESPN, the vacated wins and 2 yr probation are self-imposed. OSU's self-imposed punishment does not include loss of schollys or bowl ban. BWwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!! or so says Colin Cowherd. He and the woman on his show (her name escapes me) say it will be much worse when the NCAA drops their hammer.

Personally I think AD Gene Smith knew these allegations all along as well...jmo

He's about the worst case. But even if a player had committed a murder before the season and was found out after he played, the rest of the team's players should not have a victory taken away. Throw him in jail and anybody who knew and protected him. The pros have it easier: nobody lost victories over Pete Rose and Michael Vick.

Terrell was not the only one. You can't just pay one player....

And you can't punish just one. If one gets caught blocking in the back, the whole team gets the 15 yard penalty. It may suck, but life's not fair.

Good point. And on second thought, the NCAA would punish you more for selling textbooks than for committing murder off campus.

Very troo! And what no one seems to realize, the giving away of the text books is what started the investigation. The biggest issue in that investigation, was not the illegal obtaining and giving loaning of the text books. I twas the fact that some books were issued with study guides ( they came wrapped in same cellophane as the text books, package deal). Some athletes got the study guides, some didn't. Some non athlete students got the study guides, some didn't. Due to the fact that some athletes got these study guides, and some  non athlete students did not, it was considered a benefit.
