At corner, Alabama doesn't return much experience. Juniors Cyrus Jones and Bradley Sylve and sophomores Eddie Jackson (coming off a knee injury) and Maurice Smith are the most experienced, though there isn't much experience in that group. Redshirt freshman Anthony Averett is also in the mix.

"They're progressing," Alabama receiver Christion Jones said. "They're doing a great job. They're competing, (Humphrey) and Tony Brown and they're doing a great job with learning our defense.

"They're competing and if they keep competing, things could turn and they could find themselves on the field."...

It sounds really encouraging that they are learning the defense. That and talent, could carry them a long way towards substantial playing time this year.

We need at least one of those guys to provide immediate help in the worst way in the DB area.

From what I'm hearing, Brown is the real deal. MH hasn't been on campus long enough to be as far along as Brown. I expect him to get there, though.

I think Brown has a good shot at getting a lot of playing time in the secondary this year but I trust CNS doing what he always does with the younger ones, making them earn their playing time. I agree with the analysis of Humphrey, he is a ways behind Brown for playing time in the secondary. I do think he will be a factor in the kick return team though, he and Christion Jones might get us all excited this year.

Dre Kirkpatrick was given the field by CNS as a freshman. I think the same can happen with Brown, particularly with the deficiencies from last year. I look for Eddie Jackson and Jarrick Williams to be forces this year. Don't be surprised if Tony Brown goes ahead of Cyrus Jones. I think Jones would be better at safety, anyway, playing along with with Landon Collins, who will be in beast mode this year.
