Title: Alabama Basketball Gains Easter Commitment
Post by: Marshal Dillon on April 20, 2014, 01:00:02 PM
Interesting, but we still need some real big men, 6'8" or bigger but a 6'7" power foreward can make it interesting.

Jeff Garrett, a 6-foot-7 forward from Oldsmar, Fla., Tweeted his pledge to the Crimson Tide after reportedly visiting over the weekend. He will join the three members of the early signing class and will be eligible to play next season.

Another scholarship player is great. Maybe we will have a little more depth this year.

The power forward/inside player position is critical IMO, we have to be able to rebound and get position under the basket.

I think this is a huge pick up for CAG. A lot of people did not understand our interest in him. He was a good recruit but schools backed off him in the early signing period because of his academics. He has that that problem straightened out. He is a solid rebounder that plays around the basket unlike Cooper, Hale and incoming recruit Norris who all like to visit the outside shot rather than pound the boards at times.

Jackson Davis a 6-8 power forward from Lexington, KY was also on campus this weekend. We still have one scholly open.

Early recruit Devin Mitchell posted this picture from A Day. He is calling them the FAB 5.

Left to right: Jeff Garret, D Mitchell, J Coleman, R Norris and uncommitted Jackson Davis.

Garrett is 6'7" 210#. He needs to add 10-15 pounds to be a stronger & bigger power forward.

He looks a lot like Mitchell when he was at Bama.
