Title: Missouri's Frank Haith agrees to Tulsa deal
Post by: pmull on April 17, 2014, 09:09:44 PM
Wow. This is one coaching change I did not see coming.

Quote
Missouri coach Frank Haith has verbally agreed to become the next coach at Tulsa, a source close to the situation told ESPN.com on Thursday.

Haith, who was traveling to Tulsa on Thursday afternoon to finalize the deal, will replace Danny Manning, who left for Wake Forest earlier this month.

A surprise hire by Missouri out of Miami three years ago, Haith led the Tigers to the NCAA tournament in two of his three seasons. He had a 76-28 record at Missouri.

I would guess some possible contract issues.

I read where Missouri was not willing to extend his contract. Tulsa was contacting him to see if he was interested and he tried to use it for leverage to get his contract extended.

I think he had worn out his welcome. The mess in Miami that followed him hurt but not getting to the NCAA with the team he had this year did not go over well with Mizzou fans.

Missouri is a desirable job with a good fan base. I wonder who they will get.
