Title: NCAA Bubble Watch: Alabama and UAB's chances entering final week
Post by: ssmith general on March 07, 2011, 05:21:19 PM
"It's tournament time -- the best time of year for basketball junkies. With Selection Sunday approaching, I'll evaluate throughout the week Alabama and UAB's chances to reach the NCAA Tournament. It's a soft, soft bubble this year. Imagine if the debate comes down to Alabama vs. UAB. Heads might roll in this state over the fury from that dialogue. Here's a novel idea: Play each other and the debate would be a lot easier to settle!"

Very long article with lots of stats.

Well right now I would say that UAB would get in because of it's record. I know we play harder teams but the Conference USA needs another team to get in and you can bet the NCAA does not like choosing Alabama. RTR!

First, thanks General for the thread.  Still owe you one and am blocked. ::)

I would agree, Preacher, if it were not for politics.  The SEC will be petitioning for 6 teams from the SEC in the Dance.  Barring a major upset (MSU winning the SEC tournament), Alabama should get in if they win their first game.  That's a big IF.  We have a long way to go, and the General has promised to keep us updated .

Bless Che you said the main word, politics. It is crazy how that seems to take over college teams, recruiting, and who actually plays in bowls sometimes. I hate to see that stuff ruin schools chances. RTR!

Well, it's called MONEY, M-O-N-E-Y.  More people will pay to see Alabama (win OR lose) than to see UAB.  In fact, nationwide I'd guess more would tune in to see Alabama lose than to win.

People, they're overrated. :P

:P as bad as I hate to say it you are probably right. Alabama is a program of Honor and Gold winnings, you either love it to the bone or hate it with all you have. I guess I could say the same thing about Auburn, is that correct? RTR!  :o

They are really bad I know that. I went to a Jr. Varsity game down there in 1971 and we were sitting over in the Auburn cheering section, and we were cheering for Alabama. I would say about 30,000 Auburn fans ask us to leave with unwanted language. lol, it was horrible but we was H.S. students so we left and went on the Alabama side. RTR!
