Is this schedule supposed to get football fans excited? NBC is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

This is such an embarassing schedule for a major TV network. CBS & ESPN will be showing games like Alabama/Michigan, Alabama/LSU, Georgia/USC, LSU/Arkansas, Georgia/USC, Georgia/Missouri, Texas A&M/Arkansas, just to name a few of the games. Or you can watch Notre Dame/Purdue, Notre Dame/Wake Forest, Notre Dame/Pitt, Notre Dame/Boston College, & Notre Dame/BYU, not to mention Mountain West games or Division II games. I'm sure fans can't wait to see such "big" games.

The very mediocre NBC Sports network has had a long-standing TV contract with a terrible to mediocre Notre Dame football team. I expected nothing any better from them. If you keep doing the same things over and over......well you know.  :deadhorse:

Maybe they've convinced themselves that they can't compete with the other networks and they just take, what they think, is the best of what's left.  :dunno:

You're closer on this than you think. NBC threw all their eggs in one basket years ago and are now paying the price. When they contracted exclusively with ND, ND was relevant to college football. No more, though. Maybe they are hoping the pendulum will swing back the other way with Kelly at the helm. I wouldn't throw all my eggs in that same basket to find out.

I summarize Notre Dame as being the modern day Titanic and they took a lot of folks with them.  ;)

Alabama v. Michigan will be on ABC.  But Both CBS and ABC are miles ahead of NBC, which did put all their eggs in one basket, only to find that the basket has a hole in it.

Notre Dame finished in a 5 way tie for 35th last season. They're doing better!

That's likely the case. NBC was outbid (outfoxed) by FOX for NFL games years ago, at a time when everyone thought upstart FOX paid too much.  But it was a great move for FOX, giving it instant cred as a 4th network.  A very good long-term investment.

NBC was outsmarted by ABC for college football games -- ABC was able to bid more and cover more games through its ownership of this new sports network called ESPN.  And ABC had NFL Monday Night Football too.

CBS dug its heels in and held tight to the SEC, and its NFL coverage.

And, as the prices were going up, NBC focussed its money on covering the Olympics.  So what was left?  Notre Dame, which turned out to be a bad investment.  NBC would have been better off going after the PAC10, or the ACC.

He probably picked South Carolina or Arkansas.
