The SEC adopted a future football scheduling format today that protects permanent partners but not a length of years for the model.

The 6-1-1 format, which will be used in 2012, remains for the foreseeable future and ensures annual Alabama-Tennessee and Auburn-Georgia games. Teams will play all six divisional opponents, one permanent cross-division and one rotating cross-division.

Arkansas-Missouri and South Carolina-Texas A&M become new permanent rivals, ending the annual South Carolina-Arkansas game that existed since 1992. A handful of schools, particularly LSU, had fought for eliminating permanent partners, citing competitive equity...

And a collective scream of "NOOOOOO!!!!!" was heard from Knoxville, as the prospect of not having to face Alabama every year went by the wayside.
