I’m working on stories for the latest class of Morgan County Sports Hall of Famers when this one came up. Mike Jones, an Alabama baseball player for one year in 1963, recalled a brief meeting with Bear Bryant before enrolling. He was hoping for a little scholarship money, so his Decatur High coach set up a sit-down with Bryant, Jones and his father.
