Quote A season opener at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta? Make it a double for Alabama. The Crimson Tide will face West Virginia for the first time in program history when it opens the 2014 season against the Mountaineers in the Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game. "I believe that playing an opponent that has the national reputation that West Virginia does, one of the top programs in the country, provides a great challenge for our players and gives us something to look forward to in the offseason," coach Nick Saban said in a university release... Sounds fun. Maybe Mee Maw will let you go and you can meet some WV fans.(https://encrypted-tbn1.google.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRPhBAufaMlZxblmn-Ems9afw8bio-fYeoC5yt5AfjOUgb_tSdLsw) Hope this helps you! Self portrait, MW? Just a tip, you went a little heavy with the eye makeup. HTH. After playing Michigan and Penn State, this feels like a comedown. I was hoping to see the likes of Wisconsin, USC, Texas, Oklahoma State, etc. I wonder if some of these programs are dodging us?

Oh heck yeah! I'd love to see Bama - Okey St. play. After playing Michigan and Penn State, this feels like a comedown. I was hoping to see the likes of Wisconsin, USC, Texas, Oklahoma State, etc. I wonder if some of these programs are dodging us? I think it is a good matchup. WV is an up and coming program that put 70 points on Clemson in the bowl game under its new head coach, and it should have some success in the Big12 this year. By 2014, it might be the next Okie State, and a big win for Bama in that game, shutting down that offense, might help put to rest some of the Big12's claims of being a great conference that season. Also, Saban is from WV, so it adds another intersting angle that ESPN will beat to death before the game starts.??? Title: Re: "Alabama to open 2014 season against West Virginia in Atlanta" Post by: ALTideUp on May 18, 2012, 04:28:08 PM This will be a good change for WV. They usually start the season with some promise and then shif the bed later in the season. In 2014 they will be spared the early hopes that are necessary for a dispiriting end-of-season let down. They'll thank us.
Wait. Did that sound smugly self-confident? Oh dell, it is what is. Take away last year and what have they done to be in this discussion. They are a one hit wonder IMO. UWV has had some success over the last 10 years or so. I think this is an interesting matchup of strength vs strength. Of course we will kill them but I like shutting down high powered offenses. |
