After all these years, E.J. Junior can talk about his deepest, darkest secret.

Growing up in Nashville, Junior wanted to play SEC football and he wanted to get a good education.

He had dreamed of playing for Vanderbilt.

Seriously.

At least until Bear Bryant blew him away on a recruiting visit.

"I got my chance to come to the University of Al­abama, to see the campus," Junior said. "And then Coach Bryant shot straight from the hip. He said, 'I can't promise you playing time. I can't promise you'll ever play. But I promise you'll get a quality educa­tion.' That's what got me." ...
