Jackie Traina gave up a lead off homerun, then completed the 5 inning run rule game without allong another hit. Wow, Jamos has some great seats. My bad. Title: Re: No. 2 Softball Races Past South Carolina, 9-1 - Game 2 Bama Wins 7-5 Post by: pmull on April 14, 2012, 06:56:37 PM Boccia hits a two out two run walk off HR to beat USCe 7-5. Traina came in to pitch in the 5th and got the win.
Any SEC win is a good win and I am not complaining but we have to have someone step up as our # 2 pitcher. Jury struggled again today. If you have not voted for Cassie today you should do it now. I think she earned it with the walk off HR. Roll Tide. Title: Re: No. 2 Softball Races Past South Carolina, 9-1 - Game 2 Update Bama Wins 7-5 Post by: Jamos on April 14, 2012, 08:59:09 PM It wasn't easy for the Tide ladies today but as all good teams do, they find a way to win. Locke pitched 3 goods innings, giving up 1 run but Jury struggled again today, but in all fairness to her, she wasn't very lucky. There was a ground ball that 2nd baseman Hayes should have turned into a double play but she drops the ball and everyone is safe and it only got worse from there.
Jury is going through a learning process in pitching at the college level and she has learned that it is much tougher than at the high school level. I think her biggest problem is she doesn't have a good offspeed pitch and this is a must if she is going to be successful. She has good speed on the ball but at the college level, they can hit fastballs. I hope she doesn't get discouraged, she really needs to have a good outing in a bad way. Congrats to one of my favorite players Jennifer Fenton. Yesterday she was honored with her Senior Day. Title: Re: No. 2 Softball Races Past South Carolina, 9-1 - Game 2 Update Bama Wins 7-5 Post by: Jamos on April 15, 2012, 05:01:41 PM It was a humiliating day for SC and a good breakout for the Tide. After some late heroics to win yesterdays game in the last inning, it was the total opposite today. Bama scored 7 runs in the first inning and 8 more in the second inning to pretty much silence the Gamecocks.
Bama had 5 homeruns today, Lunceford, Hays, Hunt, Locke, and Traina and Lockes was a grand slam. Traina was the winning pitcher giving up 5 hits and 4 runs. Traina's record is now 25-0 for the season. Bama's next game is Tuesday at home against Georgia State, the game starts at 6 p.m. Title: Re: No. 2 Softball Races Past South Carolina, 9-1 - Game 2 Update Bama Wins 7-5 Post by: Leewillie on April 15, 2012, 09:18:53 PM It was a humiliating day for SC and a good breakout for the Tide. Hopefully that will become a reality for her, but it takes hours and hours of hard work but I know she can do it. |
