This sounds eerieingly like the 15,000 fans who sent messages/or called the Tide AD office to hire Mike Dumbose as the head coach at Alabama. We know how things work out when the fans are making decisions.



A group of Petrino backers even started a Facebook page called ''Team Save Coach Petrino'' and rallied Monday night on the Arkansas campus to show their support for the coach. The group had approximately 7,000 members Monday morning before passing 17,000 by evening.

Nothing says "your coach is about to be fired" like 15,000 fans pleading for their coach not to be fired. I stand by my prediction; By the time Friday has arrived, CBP will have departed.

Finebaum interviewed an Arkansas sports talk radio guy yesterday and he was talking about this rally and Facebook page. He said things keep changing but as of yesterday afternoon he thinks Petrino will keep his job. It sounds a lot like the Mike Dubose fiasco. We all know how that turned out.

I think he's gone.  He can thank Houston Nutt for stomping the snakes...

I thought he would be fired by now. The more time that passes the better the odds of him keeping his job IMO.

^^^This. IMO, once it went past a week, he was safe. There will probably be punitive arrangements made, but he stays on.

If he were a CEO at any company he would be long gone by now.

I'm waiting on the "he-has-the-backing-of-the-administration" speech from the president's office. If and when that happens, then he is definitely gone.

I thought this was the most telling and accurate part of the article. He nailed it on the head.

Probably the hardest part for Arky is that this is Spring and there isn't much else going on in the news. 

The administration knows that the press is beating the bushes for further details about the volleyball player relationship or any other things. If they don't produce anything else, and it appears that the bleeding has stopped, AND they believe that Mrs. P will SBHM, then he MAY survive.

I am sticking with my gone by Friday prediction.

Yeah, I think you are right. The firestorm has subsided for now and he will probably stay on, but how effective can he be after this. This is a guy who is a fanatic about his privacy, but his whole private world has been shredded. This has to affect his psyche and make him less effective as a coach. What about the banners and stuff he will be hearing in opposing team stadiums, it will be brutal. Plus, Mrs. Petrino holds his career in her hands right now, what's going to happen with her?
