Title: "Alabama offense, defense, special teams win scrimmage" Post by: Chechem on April 04, 2012, 04:44:02 AM http://dailybamablog.com/2012/04/03/alabama-offense-defense-special-teams-win-scrimmage/
Quote Better than anticipated was Nick Saban’s assessment of Saturday’s first scrimmage of the Alabama spring routine. Quarterback AJ McCarron didn’t expect it to go poorly from the beginning. And linebacker Nico Johnson celebrated the end of Crimson Tide defense’s scrimmage slump. Overall, there weren’t many complaints from those who saw and participated in the first run-through at full speed.... Maybe he has gotten some help with his kicking, his technique, because I have always felt his leg was plaenty strong. When he made the 45 yarder, the ball landed in the bleachers close to the portal, that kick would have been good from 60 yards easily. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

He got trashed by some folks for missing LONG field goals, which most kickers wouldn't/couldn't attempt/make. Hopefully none of our games this year will come down to a LONG fg, but if it does, at least we have an experienced kicker with the talent to make it. I wonder as to from who or how do the kickers get help with their kicking problems. This is an area that I have never heard CNS refer to a coach that needed to get his players improved. :dunno: Title: Re: "Alabama offense, defense, special teams win scrimmage" Post by: 2Stater on April 04, 2012, 07:18:31 AM I know this is beating on the dead horse, but I thought that Cade Foster had a very good day kicking the ball. I don't know if that was true then or even if it's true now. Someone made a comment last year in Foster's defense saying that most FG kickers gain confidence by making extra points and kicking short FG. Cade does not get the opportunity to kick the easy ones. I still think he can help our team. The coaches (whoever works with kickers) needs to be working on his technique and on his mental state. |
