Title: The real season starts today for Tide gymnasts (SEC Champioship) Post by: pmull on March 24, 2012, 08:49:01 AM Championship season begins with the Southeastern Conference Championships, which easily could be mistaken for the NCAA Championships.
Five of the nation's top 10 teams in the latest rankings are from the SEC: 1. Florida, 3. Alabama, 5. Georgia, 8. LSU and 10. Arkansas. Auburn is ranked No. 15 and Kentucky is ranked No. 24. "It is the closest thing to the finals of the NCAA Championships that you can get," said Alabama coach Sarah Patterson, who can remember one year when five of the six teams in the NCAA finals were from the SEC. Alabama has won seven SEC championships and five national championships. Last season was only the second time the Tide won both in the same year. Alabama never has repeated as the SEC or national champion. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2012/03/the_real_season_starts_today_f.html Title: Re: The real season starts today for Tide gymnasts (SEC Champioship) Post by: Jamos on March 24, 2012, 09:46:11 AM Yes it does, come on ladies, let's add one more trophy to the collection!!

Bama has compeated on the bars and beam which are the two hardest events. We still have our two best events to go in the floor and vault. Georgia is in first followed by Florida. I think we are in decent position.
(I'm no gymnastic expert so this may be a bunch of bad information but I'm trying) Title: Re: The real season starts today for Tide gymnasts (SEC Champioship) Post by: pmull on March 24, 2012, 05:09:04 PM After 3 rotations we have moved ahead of UGA but trail UF 147.775 to 147.450. We have the vault to go and UF is on the bars. We need a huge vault score to pull this out. UF has put up some good scores.
Title: Re: The real season starts today for Tide gymnasts (SEC Champioship) Post by: pmull on March 24, 2012, 05:40:19 PM We scored a 49.375 on the vault which is good but not great. Florida needs a 49.00 to tie us on the beam. They have not scored lower than 49.050 all night. We need a mistake from UF or we are going to finish 2nd.
Title: Re: The real season starts today for Tide gymnasts (SEC Champioship) Post by: pmull on March 24, 2012, 06:10:34 PM Florida wins with a score of 197.150. Bama in 2nd with 196.775 followed by UGA with 196.575. I would like to point out that the barn came in DFL with 194.100.
Keep in mind that we have won 7 SEC Championships and 5 National Championships. Only once (last year) have we won both in the same year. We have a very good shot at winning our 6th National Championship. We beat UF in the regular season but they are ranked # 1. This was a good test to get us ready for another championship run. Roll Tide. |
