Man, I hope our baseball team is really that young. I'd hate to think we suck that bad.  :-[

Our worst fears are being realized...We are not a very good team, not even for a young team. :'(

Game over, Ole Miss defeats Bama 11-7

The fatal flaw in tonights game was the relief pitching.

Sullivan started and pitched 6 innings giving up 6 hits and 4 runs.

In the 7th inning it took 3 relief pitchers to get the 3 outs, and in the mean time gave up 7 hits and 7 runs.  That's a game killer no matter what.

If our bullpen doesn't come around very, very quickly this season could be a total disaster. (Starting 0-4 in the SEC digs a pertty deep hole)

I think I read where 10 teams will be in the SEC Tournament instead of 8 like in the past. We will exceed my expectations at this point if we make the 10 team field. I just want to win a few SEC games and stay close to .500 on the year. I am not happy about the condition of our program. We have some good young pitchers but where are the hitters. We look more like a JUCO program than an SEC program.  :(

OK, I haven't seen a game this season so I have no idea what is going on other than what I have read from you guys and my cousin (who is a die-hard Bama baseball fan). Are we lacking in hitting, is it the pitching, lack of discipline, coaching, all of the above?

It seems as though when the pitchers show up the batters can't hit one out of the infield, when the batters show up the pitchers can't get anybody out and when the pitchers and batters bot show up (which hasn't been often), the defense can't catch the ball and throw anybody out. Other than that, they've done real good.  :dunno:  :popcorn2:

Game 2

Bama trails Ole Miss 2-1 with OM batting in the top of the 8th with a runner on 1st and no outs.

OM does not score in the 8th. Bama coming to bat trailing 2-1. We need a couple of runs here bad. We need that first SEC win.

Bama goes down 1-2-3 in the 8th. OM coming to bat in the 9th. Bama trails 2-1.

OM does not score in the 9th. Bama coming to bat trailing 2-1. We need a couple of runs.

Bama wins 3-2. Booth hits a 2 run walk off HR in the 9th.

Bama gets their 1st SEC win. We need another win tomorrow to take the series. A much needed win for the Tide.

Congratulations to Brett Booth and the Tide Baseball on their 1st SEC win of the year.

Today they had effective pitching, and timely hitting and no errors.

First complete game in a while.

Jamos, I think this is a very fair and accurate description of this team.

Before today they had not been able to put all the peices together which is what it takes to play winning ball.  Maybe today's come from behind victory will give them the confidence and incentive to play more consistently in the days ahead.

Now this makes me happy, it just makes me so mad at them losing all of these games when I know they should be a better team. ROLL TIDE!!!!!  #+  >:(

Now that's what relief pitchers are supposed to do.

Way to go Spencer.

Bama gets out of a jam in the 7th. Nice start by Jon Keller. Nice piece of relief pitching to get that bases loaded third out.

We need insurance runs now.

I held my breath when Turnbull came in with the bases loaded.

I fully expected him to either hit the batter or walk him.

That's been out pattern for most of this year.

OM has 1 run in to make the score 4-3. Bases loaded with 1 out. Bama changing pitchers. We need a good relief job here and get out of this inning with no more damage.

OM is up 6-4 with two on and two out in the 8th. Bama going to our third relief pitching in less than an inning.

Bama finally gets OM out in the 8th but OM did plenty of damage. They score 4 runs to take a 6-4.

Well...so much for our improved relief pitching

Top of 8th, 3 relievers gave up 5 hits and a walk and allowed 4 runs.

That's the kind of relief pitching we are use to...unfortunately
