Bama won both games tonight and was able to clear the dugout giving everyone a chance to play. Bama needed some games like this to get some realtime experience for the new players. It's good to play those tough tournaments but they limit the number of innings for the reserves, but CPM got everyone in tonight and should be able too for this whole tournament.

Sewell pitched the first game and did okay, but she still had the problem of too many walks. This is something she's had for most of her career at Bama. Jury pitched the second and did very good until she tired in the 5th. She really needs more work to get her young arm conditioned for the rigors of SEC softball. Amanda Locke did a great job in the relief role tonight and I think she is the key for Bama if they are to have a good year or a great year. Dunne is gone and Traina isn't ready to pitch back to back games just yet so this is where Locke can be the big gun of the team if she can become to go to pitcher in the latter innings.

Overall I think Bama is a good team but not a great team just yet and that is why the tournament this weekend is so good for this team, a lot of players will get plenty of playing time to ready themselves for the SEC schedule that is nearing.

CPM narrowly missed a serious injury at the start of the first game tonight. He was in the dugout and a foul ball hit him in the head, he was taken to the ER at DCH but returned before the end of the first game. He seemed to be okay, but again it was a head injury.

Bama wins in a great pitching match 3-2

Traina gave up 4 hits, 3 walks, and 13 ks

NDSU threw their ace pitcher today and she was everything that the folks from NDSU said that she was last night. She matched Traina in the stats giving up 4 hits, 2 walks, and 7 ks

Bama plays ECU tomorrow at 1:30 followed by another game with NDSU at 4:30 p.m

Alabama is playing their 5th game of the weekend against SIUE. We scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 1st to take a 6-0 lead. The big hit was a 3 run HR by Hunt. We are still batting in the 1st. We have batted around and they are changing pitchers.

Bama gets a mercy rule 8-0 win. Lauren Sewell pitched a 2 hit shut out. Bama wins all 5 games this weekend and remains unbeaten on the year.

The mercy rule not only applied to the final score but CPM took most of the starters out after the first inning and it was a good experience for the younger ones. Sewell had a better day pitching but I still don't think she is ready to be a starter in the SEC competition. Considering she pitched very little last year, it will take a little time for her to get back into the groove.

The freshmen are going to be very good and I don't mean next year, I've been very impressed with them at the plate and in the field.

The injury that CPM got yesterday was a broken nose but he seems ok. He was very lucky, had the ball hit him in the temple, we might be discussing something different today.

Bama will be at home again next weekend hosting another tournament.
