Title: "Ex-OU assistant Willie Martinez lands at Auburn" Post by: Chechem on February 18, 2012, 06:15:15 AM Quote Listed as “the odd man out” in the Mike Stoops reunion at Oklahoma, former Sooners defensive backs coach Willie Martinez has landed on his feet with a job in the SEC. http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/02/17/ex-ou-assistant-willie-martinez-lands-at-auburn/Auburn announced today that Martinez would be joining Gene Chizik‘s staff, replacing Phillip Lolley. Lolley stepped down from his position earlier this month to re-take an administrative job within the athletic department... Another loser is born. :popcorn2: Title: Re: "Ex-OU assistant Willie Martinez lands at Auburn" Post by: Chechem on February 18, 2012, 06:50:39 AM (http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg201/Chechem_2008/unwelcome-mat.jpg)
How will the Aubs welcome this new arrival? Title: Re: "Ex-OU assistant Willie Martinez lands at Auburn" Post by: pmull on February 18, 2012, 07:42:31 AM The barn thinks this is a great hire. They forget he was run off at Georgia two years ago and should have been fired before that but Richt is too nice of a guy. If he was a good DB coach Stoops would not let him go. I don't buy the spin that he was only let go by Stoops because he wanted his brother. Stoops could have made room by letting anyone on the staff go. Head coaches do not fire good assistants.
