Title: No. 2 Bama Softball Heads to the SEC/ACC/Big XII Challenge Post by: Jamos on February 17, 2012, 06:22:10 AM The No. 2 ranked Alabama softball team returns to the diamond this weekend with four games in three days as part of the SEC/ACC/BIG XII Challenge in Auburn, Ala. The Crimson Tide will open tournament play on Friday evening against No. 23 Georgia Tech of the ACC at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Tide will play two games, opening with ACC foe Virginia Tech at 10 a.m., and finishing the day against 2011 WCWS participant and fourth ranked Oklahoma of the Big XII at 12:30 p.m. Alabama will conclude tournament play on Sunday against another ranked Big XII foe and 2011 WCWS participant, No. 15 Oklahoma State at 9 a.m.

We will see good teams that will help us get prepared for the SEC schedule. I look forward to seeing how we play. We cruised through the tourament last weekend but this is a much tougher field.

It wasn't pretty but it was a good win against a ranked team which beat Arizona St last week out there.

The score is tied 1-1 with Bama coming to bat in the top of the 5th. we have 6 hits but only the one run. traina is pitching a good game. She has only given up 1 hit but it was a HR.

They went undefeated at a very quality tourney this weekend. Even with Traina under the weather against Georgia Tech, the bats carried them to a win in that game. They appear to be a team that performs in the clutch. This may be their year.

It may happen down the road, though during the regionals or WS. Murphy, like Saban, does a great job of recruiting every year. The ladies are always in the mix at the end of the year. |
