Quote BIRMINGHAM | The University of Alabama baseball team has been picked to finish third in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference in the preseason coaches poll, released Monday. The Crimson Tide finished tied for second in the SEC West a year ago with a 14-16 conference record. Arkansas, LSU picked 1 & 2 with Florida to win it all. Yeah, that surprised me too, but I know they lost quite a few players from last year's team. Having Dugas to pass up the pros and come back this year is a real plus for the team and his leadership can do a lot for this team. Last year the team suffered from being unable to hit the long ball, but CMG has changed to a different brand bat this year, Easton, and this should help that problem.
If Bama can dodge the injury bug in the early season and get off to a good start, this team might surprise some folks. RTR!! If they live up to it, they could indeed, surprise some people. I have as well, they will struggle some some early on but maybe the Bama bats can help them out some by scoring lots of runs to keep them in the games longer for that much needed experience that they are lacking. |
