APALACHICOLA, Florida -- Florida's "Forgotten Coast" got an unforgettable experience last October, when Sports Illustrated models, photographers and crew rolled into Apalachicola to shoot pictorials for this month's Swimsuit Issue, which hits newsstands Feb. 14.

The magazine routinely shoots in exotic beach locations around the world, but kept it closer to home for at least a few shots.

"It took us a couple days to master saying it," swimsuit issue editor Diane Smith told USA Today. "We thought we can do some good for our country, really help a region that needs to be showcased."

Smith said that in addition to local Apalachicola scenes, two local dogs will make an appearance in the issue.

SI has shot portions of its annual swimsuit issue in Florida before, but never along the Gulf coast.

The cover photo from this year's issue has not yet been announced, but Fox News and other media outlets are speculating that it will be 19-year-old Kate Upton.

Sorry CB, other end of the Panhandle from me, however, I have a good friend that lives over there and I've heard nothing from him. I will be having a word with him.  :-\

I think I would be re-evaluating my friendship after this.  ;)

He said he was too busy eating the oysters over there and forgot that was going on. I told him he needs to take some ginko to help his memory and that maybe those oysters just might pay off.

Beautiful area, but the beaches suck. Unless you head out to S.G. I.
