Title: "Why can't Nick Saban and Alabama come back and do it again?"

Nick Saban let his guard down for just a moment Saturday.

In the middle of his prepared speech, toward the close of the celebration in Bryant-Denny Stadium, the Alabama coach said one thing that sounded like it came straight from the heart he rarely shows to the outside world.

"I think winning two national championships in the last three years is pretty da#@ special," he said...

Why is "dam_" automatically changed to "dang" on this thing. Well, we posters are very sensitive to bad language.

Is the Apocalypse upon us? Scarbo actually wrote a POSITIVE story about CNS and the Tide.

That is surprising for the gator grad.

I would not be a bit surprised if Bama brings home another piece of crystal next year.  ;)

It is difficult to repeat. It has rarely been done. However, CNS has our team in position to challenge for championships every year. We will need some players to step up as leaders, stay hungry, avoid key injuries and get a few breaks along the way. I think we have as good a shot at winning next year as anyone. I would not bet against us.

Spring training will be very interesting this year. With some of the injured returning, 6 early enrollers, and a new OC, it should be interesting.

New talent, different approach, same results.  RTR! #15

Tough call. Here's a breakdown:

Negative facts:

We lose 7 starters on defense, including 3 DB's (both corners) and 3 LB's. The loss of Dre, Barron, Upshaw, and Hightower are especially big.

On offense we lose Richardson, Vlahos, and relieable receivers Hanks, Maze (punt returner, too), & Smelley.

We still have a problem with our kicking game. We need a reliable FG kicker for FG's 44-52 yards, a kickoff kicker who can kick it out of the endzone on kickoffs, and a punter who can kick it long when needed and kick it out-of-bounds deep when needed.

Positives:

We have a winning QB and 4 starters from the O-line returning. We have a proven RB in Lacy who can replace TR, plus Fowler as a backup. We lose all our proven WR's, but Norwood looked great agasinst LSU and will be a junior. Bell also looked okay against LSU. We have Lowery, Milliner, & Sunseri returning for the DB area along with 5 star Clinton-Dix. Mosely & DePriest return in the LB position.

The key, in my mind is, can we replace 3 solid starters in the DB area, especially the most vital area, both corners. If we can replace both corners with excellent cover guys, we are halfway home to nother NC.

The Griffith kid from Georgia is the real deal and will fill the need here.

Marshal Dillion,
I think most townsfolk would think you hit a home run with this analysis.

Lowery is listed as a junior this year but he is a walk on and I think he already has his degree.  I don't think he will be back, but I'm not 100% sure.

Alabama plays many players on both sides of the ball besides just the starters building the whole team with more experience.

We also lost many to injuries this past year. 2 or 3 of the offensive tackles had season ending knee surgery.

Next year will be here soon enough. I am so happy with the finish two weeks ago.
