Title: US ready to put Joran van der Sloot on trial in Alabama as soon as he's availabl Post by: Coach Hank Crisp on January 11, 2012, 01:32:05 PM http://blog.al.com/spotnews/2012/01/federal_officials_ready_to_put.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Quote BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Now that Joran van der Sloot has pleaded guilty to charges of killing a young Peruvian woman, federal officials in Alabama are ready to try and bring him back here to face trial for extortion charges related to the disappearance of Mountain Brook teenager Natalee Holloway while she was on a trip to Aruba. "Of course we want him here to face charges," said Peggy Sanford, spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorneys Office in Birmingham. "We're ready to go to trial whenever we get him." "But right now," Sanford said, "we don't exactly know when that will be." Van der Sloot pleaded guilty this morning in the death of 21-year-old Stephany Flores in his Lima hotel room on May 30, 2010 -- five years to the day of when Holloway disappeared. He is scheduled to be sentenced by a three-judge panel on Friday morning, CNN reported. Federal officials have said a plan has been in place for months to give them a chance to bring van der Sloot to the state to face charges related to the 2005 disappearance of Halloway. Interpol -- the International Criminal Police Organization -- on behalf of the US has filed a hold on van der Sloot so that if, for any reason, he were to be release he would be held so the U.S. could attempt to extradite him. I read earlier today where his maximum sentence for killing the girl is Peru is only 30 years. That's getting off easy for murder IMO. I hope they do bring him to the States and give him what he deserves. We know he has killed at least twice. If he gets out there is a good chance he will do it again.

He won't sit on death row there for long. They are trying to get him for trying to blackmail the family by offering to tell what happened if they paid him.

I dug this up on the innerwebz. The U.S. and Peru do have an extradition agreement, so apparently that part of it shouldn't be an obstacle. I would love to see him Dahmered, either in Peru or over here. I think he gets enough of years to wear him down. Although if he were paroled for some insane reason, he would have to walk out of jail here with no protection and I am afraid matters might get severe. RTR!

They tear gas their own citizens when they demonstrate in the street. Almost got caught in it. Somehow, I don't think Joran will have TV privileges, great food or friendly cellmates in Peru. Leave him there - then bet whether he makes 30 years or not

The link below has a video that talks about the conditions. The prison he is going to has 10,000 inmates and is designed to hold 3,000. The showers run once a week for 15 minutes. The guy in the video said the conditions are worse than the Turkish prison in the movie Mightnight Express.

Yeah, Joran is going to be VERY popular. So let's all pledge to him that any info he offers our group is handled in a mature and open minded manner. But I have to venture that sending a flaming homo to jail is better than an all expense paid trip to camp.
