Title: Missouri v. Illinois Basketball
Post by: Catch Prothro on December 22, 2011, 10:12:33 PM
Even though these teams are in different conferences, this is a rivalry game.  The states adjoin each other, and the rivalry of Missouri v. Illinois is the college equivalent of St. Louis Cardinals v. Chicago Cubs.  Fittingly, the game was played in St. Louis, right across the Mississippi River from Illinois.

Missouri came into the game ranked #8 nationally and 11-0 for the season.  Illinois was ranked #24 nationally.

Although Missouri led much of the game, Illinois tied it with about 2 minutes to go, 70 to 70.  Missouri battled back and won at the end.

At 12-0, Missouri should improve the SEC's RPI in basketball next year.  It's probably a good thing that they are joining the SEC East.
