After being arrested in 2008 on felony drug charges, Johns spent 13 months in a Tuscaloosa, Ala., jail. Since then he has done his best to rehabilitate his image and become a better member of society. This past summer the 2004 Mr. Football spoke in Jackson to the 12 members that comprised this year’s Clarion Ledger Dandy Dozen squad about his journey since being incarcerated. And about making the right decisions in life. Wearing khaki dress pants, a blue and white button-down shirt, a crimson and cream Alabama letterman jacket at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game on Saturday, Johns looked like any other former SEC athlete. I'm sick of hearing about former players who become drug addicts. This is great for him to turn his life around.
