Title: Need Computer Help!
Post by: KoKoPuf on December 14, 2011, 10:37:07 AM
Maybe some of you guys can help me fix my computer. Several days ago my computer "crashed". I was unable to access any of the programs through the normal channels. I have a DELL XPS 1530 running Windows 7. I was able to open the computer in safe mode and diagnostics told me to reseat the hard drive. The computer did not recognize any hard drive on the system. I removed and reinserted the hard drive but no luck. I reloaded Windows 7 and now the computer shows the hard drive with lots of free space but no files so I assume they are gone. Fortunately I backed up the computer a few days before it crashed.

Now the computer seems to be stuck in "safe mode". At least judging from the appearance of the screen. How can I return to normal mode? Any ideas?

Reloading windows should have gotten rid of safe mode.  Reboot the machine and start hitting the F8 key.  You might see a text menu that lets you choose between safe mode and normal mode.  If you pick normal mode and it still comes up in safe mode, then you have another problem with the machine that is preventing it from starting up normally.

Could it be that the default resolution (low) is just making it look more like safe mode or does it actually say safe mode on the background?

Thanks, Guys. I finally have the computer up and running. I had to re-install programs and redo settings but the computer seems to be running as it should.
